01 L vs. 02 S2000

Spike Engineering you are correct - I did not mean to imply in any way that the L would beat an S2000 on a road course. But on regular roads in the real world (off the track), the L has the S2000 beat on many counts but handling is not one of them. I fully expected to have my *** handed to me by the S2000 and M3's especially - I was just surprised that on those particular roads I could definitely hang with the competition (but maybe not for an extended period considering the braking involved). Again, on our romp through the twisties we only went maybe 3-4 miles deep into the countryside. On the track you probabaly sustain 9/10th's driving for a lot longer duration and I wasn't even close to 7/10ths on our little Sunday drive. I have respect for the S2000, but I still think L drivers shouldn't shy away from the twisties just because they drive a truck. You yourself know best!

I can. I had a deposit on an S2000, which the dealer said he would sell me for sticker. When the car arrived he stiffed me, and sold it to someone willing to pay the surcharge. That's when I bought the L., and never regretted it for a minute. Have you ever tried to tow a 6500 lb. boat with an S2000? That's why the '02 Golf is my daily driver, instead of a Civic. I never miss the chance to tell the Honda reps at the auto shows how much business they lost from me because of greedy dealers. Of course, if I were a racer like Azeem and Spike, since I can't afford a Z06 and an L. I would have swallowed my pride and got an S2000 instead of the VW, and towed it to the track with my L.
