Attention: All those with MGW A/C *****

Did something this weekend that you guys might like. Stopped by Radio Shack and picked up two packs of T 1 3/4 green LED's ($0.99/pk). I then broke off both of the leads and dropped them down in the "backlight holes" of the billet *****. Makes sure you push the LED all the way down. I then used a little Super Glue to hold them in. Presto, a perfectly matched green backlit indicator light. It looks stock at night. It took all of three minutes to do!

Ofcourse you could drop in some yellow, blue, red, etc. etc. but the green matches perfectly.

What do you mean....

I then broke off both of the leads???

How did you get the glue to stick without filling up the hole?
Could u e-mail me at Basktbalr7@aol.com and describe this better?

The two wire leads(on the LED) are very thin. Simply bend them a few times and they will snap off at the base of the LED. Once you drop them in the hole, push them down to make sure they are centered. Hold them up to the light and you will see if they are centered. There should be nothing but green light. Then, just put a couple drops of glue around the edge and let sit for a minute or so. That's it.

The backlighting will shine thru the LED at night to give a nice green glow.

You could also just buy the A/C ***** from UPR Products. That would solve the dilemma since you could buy them with GREEN, RED or Blue illumination ready to go.

Nah, wasn't impressed by the finish of the UPR's. The MGW's looks much better IMHO. I find it funny that UPR is "Patent Pending".LOL

Thumbs up

No way UPR is better quality than MGW.

UPR stuff is OK, but MGW is far superior in quality and pricing.

MGW's Research and Development group is top notch

beefcake,

Kind of off-topic here, but do you think you could replace your "politically correct" signature image with something a bit smaller? It looks like that image is over 100k in size, which is pretty large for the bandwidth impaired...thanks! (not singling you out, just happened to see it)

I would like to install the green lights. I tried to get the ***** off the shafts. They are on tight. Anybody have an idea how to get them off with out damaging the chrome. Thanks. Bob.

I have the same exact problem... I was able to get the stock ***** off without a problem, but the new MGW ***** seem to be really on there now... I would like to put in a green lens/led to match the rest of the dash lights, but I really don't want to damage the chrome either...

I will agree though that the MGW pieces are top quality though!!

I put a soft cloth over the ***** and then use vise grips. They come off w/ no problem.

I used a paper towel wrapped over a few times and a pair of Channel Locks. Those retaining clips he uses are snug!

I ended up with a set of UPRs and MGWs by accident and after trying out both, the MGW's won me. UPRs are sitting in box in the garage..
