Question OIL poll... what kind?

I will be changing my oil for the first time this weekend. I am at about 1600 miles. What is everyones opinion on the brand and weight of oil that would be best? I am really thinking Mobil 1 10W-30. Also, what oil filter is best? I know this has been covered ad nauseum, but I need some advice for me.

I had great luck using Valvoline 5W-20 for my first few oil changes along with the motorcraft 820S filter.

Once I got to 9 or 10000 miles I switched to Mobil One 5W-30

I use Synthetic Mobil 1 5W-30 in all my cars. I can tell you from personal experince that in the extreme temperatures that we have here in Alaska, synthetic oil is ten times better than regular. When I mean extreme, I mean starting a car at -50 degrees! If synthetic works this well at such an extreme case, then you can just imagine how well it works at a sane temperature.

Oh, and by the way. Before I moved to Alaska, I thought synthetic oils were just a waste of money, but now that I have seen what they do.... I will never run anything but synthetics again!

Oil

Lucas 15-40 long drain here.........with a quart of stabilizer to boot. This stuff lubricates like nothing else I've ever seen.

No dry starts.......ever!

Amsoil or Royal Purple....

Nothing else!

Mobile one is OK if you're in a pinch.

I used normal Pennzoil 5W-20 at roughly 2500 miles, then went with Mobile 1 synthetic 10W-30 at 5400 miles. Both with the motorcraft 820s filter. I will stay with the motorcraft 820s filter, but am debating on going to amsoil as a friend of mine is going to sign up to be a distributor.

Talking Man! Am I in good company

At 4,000 miles, I went to Royal Purple #11(5W20) Racing synthetic oil and the K&N Gold filter(it has a 1" 'nut' on the bottom of the filter for easy removal).

MOBIL-1, 0-40. Imported for MERCEDES. I have used it since 2k miles, 9k now, and it is perfect. No problems, no noises.
