If edmunds.com is a reliable source...then the max tow rating is more like 8700lbs - Here is the link

Thanks guys, It looks like the tow rating is higher 8700 lbs, that sounds better. I asked a guy a the dealership today what the tow rating was and he said he thought it was 7400 lbs. I was just going by what he said but I guess he thought wrong.
24's would be sweet and we will have to have a tv screen and a PS2 in there as well. If not for the Baby to be, then for me since I'm a kid at heart and I still act like I am 20

The Edmund's and Kelly Blue Book guys all hit on the same pipe. What gears ya got? Tow rating should be on the door jamb. I think your back to the mods and the TV's. Cost of living keeps going up! Try this link http://www.chevrolet.com/tahoe/index.htm

I just looked at the door jam (GVWR is 6800) I have the 3.73 gears. Is that the allowed trailer wieght or is that the weight allowed for the Tahoe itself (Gross vehicle weight rating)?

Looks nice. The onstar system is really neat. I also like the power heated seats and the radio that increases volume when your hit 55, 65, and 75. When I drive, I pull the headrest one click forward, that really makes the seats nice.

The Tahoes are great trucks, especially for long hauls. I'm kind of a Deanli lover. Just prefer the extra grunt and comfort, plus the active suspension is way cool. Highly recommend the Hotchkis sway bar kit for these trucks. With the active suspension, the Tow/Haul mode gives you very little sway, but has crappy shifting without a load. With the Hotchkis setup, you get the same firm, no slop ride in the regular shifting mode, without the crappy shifting. Enjoy it.

Denali with 18" Borbet CW4 rims and Toyo 285/60R18 tires. (which are for sale if anybody is interested)

Thumbs up

I actually traded my Tahoe 4x4 for the L.

It was a great vehicle, but at the time I only needed one... I wouldn't hesitate to get another Tahoe though. Good choice.

id say squash the 24's and go with some 33x12.5's that way you have a bad azz street machine and an off road truck so if u either wanna race or go camping, you're ready!!

FastAsL,
I did consider that, but, I already have a jacked 4x4 that I never use, it just sit's in the garage. I have only had it out a couple of times in the last two years and that was just to drive it around and to go through the gears to keep everything lubed up. It's an "88 Toyota with 38" tires with a dump bed and all, only 24,000 original miles, never seen any winter months.

rfat16,
Sure I have a few pics of it, the motor and transaxle are out right now that is why it sits high in the rear
