superchip don't work. truck won't start

Installed my new superchip for my 2001 with a cxn1 code. there is a red piece paper in the box the chip came in saying that "some 1998-2000 trucks may not start when you install the chip". I guess my truck is one of those. anyone else had that problem. does the diablo chip eliminate that. or does anyone know another way to get around this without having to send "superchip" my computer box to have them solder something inside? I'm fairly sure that would void the warranty on the truck.

Try re-cleaning the contacts. Very important to remove all the clear sealer before installing the chip. Once you have it clean, clean it again. Just be very careful not to remove the solder. Is it a generic Super-Chip? Or a JDM tuned Super-Chip? If it is a generic from Super-Chips send it in to JDM for their programing. Much better tune. get it running first.

Best thing to do is make 100% sure you got all the coating off the contacts on the board. The most common reason to cause your symptom is no contact between the module and the board. If the contacts are all good, you may have a "reflashed" module, and would need to contact Superchips. The reflash is fairly common in the Fords, and can be easily fixed.

yes I cleaned the contacts well. I had a superchip on my 1997 4.6 f150 worked great too. this chip is a "superchip" bought from lone star performance in dallas. first time they flashed a cux1 code. i sent it back. got it back today it had a cxn1 code written on the outside. I scraped all the silicone of the board used a scotch brite to sand it to where the contacts were almost copper looking, plugged it in, and it wouldn't start. I removed it and double checked everything, installed it and the same thing, no start.

If I had to guess, I would think it has been reflashed. Roughly 10% of the Fords we have had in our shop for modules have been reflashed for some odd reason. Has the truck ever been to the dealer for any type of electrical related problems?

Hmm got me. The only other problem I have seen is the goo getting stuck inside the module. Maybe someone else here has experienced the same problem and can shed some light on the subject. Best of luck to you.

hmmm

well, it's possible that the place you bought it from screwed it up again. I agree with above. JDM is a ford specialist and the lightning is one of thier concentrations. I would call them or shoot them an email to see what they suggest. Maybe you can send it over to them for a reburn(it will cost). If it still don't work the chip could be bad. I believe superchips has a 30 day satisfaction guarentee...... go to www.jdmengineeringinc.com and shoot them an email. Never hurts to ask.

I had the same thing the first two attempts to get my Superchip to work in my 01

I'd try this out -

re-clean the contacts thoroughly one more time and rub down with ethyl alcohol

check that non of the coating has got stuck inside the chip's connectors when you first tried it out

if necessary, make sure that you have modded the bracket (bend or cut) to allow the chip to sit properly in the ECU

the chip may not slot fully into the ECU - if this is the case, push it as far as it will go and use a non-stretching heavy duty tape to hold it in against the contacts

hope this gets it working for you

Mike
