Question Cleaning exhaust tips

I want to shine up my stock exhaust tips, inside and out if possible. Thinking of using Mothers chrome polish and a brass-bristled brush.

Will the brass scratch the tips or is there a better idea?

I've found that when you switch to bassani 4 inch tips, you actually find yourself wanting to clean them constantly. The true secret to a spotless ride is a fanatical owner. My L is a Black 01 and with 13000 miles, it looks better than when I got it.
I also wash it 3 times a week.

Thumbs up

Hello,

I've posted this before, but it was a while ago.

If you want tips that look like this:

Then use Mother's polish on the outside, a buffer helps, but it's not necessary. On the inside, you can use a wire wheel (Brass or steel is OK) to get the crud off, then use Mother's on the inside as well. I used a dremel, but any brush should do the trick.

Have fun!

Brass wire brush on a drill for the inside followed up by Mothers, Eagle1, or Weinol metal polish on the inside and outside.

BE CAREFUL! When you get the wire brush near the edges of the tips it has the tendancy to fling either towards the ground or towards the truck! Very easy to scratch the paint! (Believe me)

You could always try some Ceramabryte (sp?). You can find it in Lowe's near the stoves. It is meant for cleaning ceramic coated surfaces. Mine looked beautiful, but I still switched to Bassani......not for the tips just the sound

Thanks guys ... I will give the brass brush a try. Then I will raid the kitchen for Ceramabryte since that is what my wife has for cleaning the stove. Heh, never thought stove cleaner would be useful on the L

if the insides of the tips are really nasty, a quick shot of carb cleaner on a shop towel works wonders....

also, cremabrite is real abrasive. in time it will dull your pipes. the mother's mag and aluminum polish cleans and polishes (not abrasive) i got a big tin of it at checker for $7.50

GO GET THE MOTHER'S POLISH!!!!!!
