Emblem/Acetone Mod

I don't know who thought this mod up, but it sure is slick. With the price of most mods, you sure can't beat the price on this one. And it sure is pleasing to the eye! Once again, it sure is easy to see why this is the best lightning forum out there! Thanks to all the people out there who just love this truck.

I honestly don't think anyone with a black L has done this because they are afraid it will "stand out" too much against the black. I love how it blends in with white and especially silver

here,, use 100%acetone and papertowl or a rag,, whipe vigorously till all paint is goine,, dont worry about getting it on your paint as it comes right off with just a dab of acetone on a rag,,, then use q-tips for the hard to reach areas,, whipe to shine and you are done,, looks great too if i do say so myself

heres where i posted how to do it last year... when did you "come up" with the idea?

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ghlight=chrome

here's where i saw it first.. in november of 2000

http://www.f150world.com/sidelights.asp

he installed sidemarker lights, and "chromed" his emblems.
on the last page of his write up he says:

"The chrome emblems on our truck are completely stock. I removed the black paint using 100% acetone (finger nail polish). DO NOT dunk the emblems into any kind of solvent, most likely they will soften and melt because the backing is plastic. I used several Q-tips and a soft cotton rag to remove the paint. The paint on the emblems for 1997 and 1998 are "baked" on and nothing will remove it. New emblems from the Ford dealership cost from $14 to $17 each. "
