MAF question

I'll start by letting you know that I got lazy and didn't drain the antifreeze before I changed my thermostat last week. OK, that was the stupidest thing I've done in a while. Truck started running like chit bad. The dealership replaced 4 coil packs and I replaced the other 4 for good measure. Truck runs better but not totally back to full power yet. This morning ses light comes on and dealer says the code is for a lean condition on both sides. My mechanic says it could possibly be the maf going bad since I washed the motor and possibly got water in it. Has anyone else had the maf go bad? If so, would were the signs?
Thanks, Jason

I have washed my engine once and haven't had any problems.
