Anybody have your seat replaced under waranty?

With less than 4000 miles on my truck there is a spot on the drivers side seat that is starting to wear thin and looks like crap.

If you rub your hand across it you can tell that there is a small pocket in the foam. When you get in and out of the seat, you rub across that pocket and its wearing the fabric thin there.

The dealer should replace the seat right?

I would think that they should. I hate these seats, this so called suede is *****. Everybody is putting seat covers on. I found a place locally that will match the two colors and do it in real leather on all the seating surfaces and matching vinyl for the backs and bottom. $750

suede is not mentioned in any of the lightning brochures i've ever seen.. what you are calling suede is "alcantara" a cloth that has a suede like texture. the black inserts in the seats and door panels are leather.

I had both of my seat re-upholstered(sp?) under warranty. They didn't even think twice about it, they just said they would do it. Only problem was that since the new covers were put on by hand, it isn't quite as tight as stock. It has gotten a lot better over time and is not noticable anymore.

So the dealership will actually replace the seats if they're wearing thin?? I'm taking my 99 into the shop in a few days for some basic fixes and would consider having them replaced.

I had my drivers seat replaced at 6000 miles, steel brace was pushed completely through the foam cushion and caused a 6 inch wear mark on the fabric cover (also replaced). When the tech replace the foam he wrapped the steel bar in jute padding to hopefully stop it from wearing through the foam again. A month later and no problem, looks perfect.

I have an '02L and after about a few weeks you could see and feel a wear spot on the outside bottom bolster where you slide in and out of the drivers seat.. the only answer I had was Wet Okole's.. this was after I read a ton of threads.. am happy with them but agree that the seats look and feel great new but it dont last long..

Yep... same here. I took my L in to the dealer and got everything taken care of with no questions asked. The fella that does the upholstery work there was apparently familiar with the problem because he only looked at it for a couple of seconds and knew exactly what was causing it.

I had My 99 replaced. The 01 is in today for a few things including the seat cover replaced and the bottom cushion. The rod beneath the left side bolster is the culprit. Have them wrap it before putting on the new pad and cover. My 99 never had the problem after it was done.

Did they replace the entire seat covering or just the left side of the drivers seat? My 99L has the same problem, also I dropped a little ash on the right side of the seat, it isn't real noticeable but you can see it.If they replace the entire seat covering that would be a bonus. Wet Okole's next

Had mine replaced under warranty as well, and they only replaced the lower cushion and cover. I wish I had thought of adding the padding to the bar then. Its been a few months and it's starting to break through the cushion again.
