Factory Tech - or others, need Trans help!!
I can't see on my transmission whether it is a IJ or an IK since it was sprayed with undercoating. I know the truck was built in March 2001.
My issue is that after being on the throttle a couple times, the next time i take off, even with just partial throttle, it doesn't want to shift out of first gear, at any speed, unless i completely let off the gas, then it shifts into 2nd.
I was told by Justin@JDM that the build date is dependant on which transmission was put in. He said the IJ is the "bad" transmission and that there is a Technical Bulletin out on it. The IK is evidently the newer "better" transmission.
I'm a bit iffy on taking the truck to the dealer to have them look at the trans problem even though i'm sure it has to be a common problem. It's an '01 with only 8,000 miles on it and it has been to the track twice.

Btw, I had Redline's synthetic D4 fluid pumped in 7,000 miles ago with no 'bad' issues and 'it' helped me to my 12.532. I know you have commented on synthetic fluids in the past and just wanted to add my experinences to your observances.

It's prolly a 5X, the changeover date was 3/16 and from what I've seen, we usually run about 2 days ahead of OTP, so a box built on 3/16 would go in a truck built on or about 3/18. By April you should have had the new one. The way to check is look on the side of the tranny, just forward of the extension housing on the driver's side, there's an ID tag, the code in big letters is your model code, should be either J1 of 5X.
