Hmmmm..no, I did not see the 3 coats in 24 hrs thing....must have read right over it. Hopefully it won't make the paint fall off.
LOL

I did 3 coats of Z-5 and 2 coats of Z-2. The paint looks incredible!!! Undoubtedly the best shine I have ever had on a vehicle.

It took a total of 12 hours, from the Dawn wash to the final detail. I will post pix tomorrow since I ran out of daylight today. I may do another coat of Z-2 later this week after these coats have a chance to set up.

I think you are fine with the z-5 , the z-2 needs the 24 hour wait

I emailed Sal at Zaino, he said no problems with the extra coats. The pix will be up this evening. Although, the pix just don't do the shine and depth of the shine any justice.

I can just imagine what this will do for a black vehicle!!!

Thank you for the compliments, makes the 12 hrs of work worthwhile!!! I will try for a better picture later in the evening when the light is better. Here is everything I did....

1) Wash VERY thoroughly with dawn
2) Clayed the whole except for the hood, it was buffed last weekend for water spots.
3) Coat #1 of Z-5
4) Wiped down with Z-6
5) Coat #2 of Z-5
6) Wiped down with Z-6
7) Coat #3 of Z-5
8) Wiped down with Z-6
9) Coat #1 of Z-2
10) Wiped down with Z-6
11) Coat #2 of Z-2
12) Collapsed exhausted in bed after 12 hrs

I used the ZFX which helped greatly in the drying time. The humidity has been brutal. I let each coat dry for about 1 hour. The directions on the ZFX kit say to do no more than 3 coats in 24 hrs. I spoke with Sal at Zaino, and he said there are no side effects to more coats. I plan 1 more coat of Z-2 next week.

Some tips I found...
1) I preferred to use Meguires Gold foam application pads over the cotton ones. They were easier to use and didn't soak up as much polish.

2) LOTS of towels are a MUST. I used about 1 towel PER coat.

3) Use LIGHT coats of Zaino...it is MUCH easier to remove, especially with the ZFX. Be sure to let each coat fully dry.

4) I found that the results were just as good by hand as they were with a buffer. I actually had to redo a section because the NEW pad caused a couple scratches.

5) If you have water spots, scratches, etc, buff them out BEFORE you Zaino. The Z-5 does help with swirl marks and minor scratches.

Other than that, just follow the directions carefully and be patient. It is ALOT of work if you do multiple coats, but the results are well worth it.

Just my .02 worth; I've tried them all and their are pro's and con's to all of them. The zaino does provide very long lasting protection.
Jeff, been at Griots Garage by chance?
