Definately go with a full synthetic for best motor protection (startup and more resistance to breakdown). Mobil 1, Castrol and so on are fine. You will pay big dollars over the long run for the premium oils (Redline and Amsoil) though. I have had 5w-30 Redline in my truck since 5000km so I don't know about that having to wait to 10k miles to change to a synthetic. It seems to be a truck to truck thing.

I personally feel that the 5w20 thing is garbage, but Honda has jumped onto it too. My truck only has 600 miles on it now, so it still has the original factory oil and filter. I have run nothing but Amsoil Series 2000 0w30 on any vehicle that i've ever owned. I will change my oil probably between 1500-2000 miles with Motorcraft 5w30 dino oil, with an Amsoil filter, but then at 4500-5000 miles, I plan on completely changing over to Amsoil Series 2000 0w30. The Lightning is equiped with an auxiliary engine oil cooler, therefore even with dino oil, it should manage to do pretty good. I feel that synthetics offer a lot, which is why I run nothing but the best synthetics. Why buy a $32590 truck, and then use regular oil on it, especially if you plan on holding onto it for a while? These Lightnings are special trucks, and deserve the best for the countless hours of fun they give us. It's absolutely priceless watching the expression on the faces of ricers after they realized they got beat by a pickup truck!

Mobil 1 15w-50 is the factory fill for the Ford Mustang Cobra R Mobil 1 15W-50 I have been using 5W-30 but I think I will try 15W-50 for the summer (racing) season.

Yeah it is expensive!!!
Up here they want 17.99/qt for 5w-30 Redline. I get it shipped up from Iowa (where ever that is) for 7.99/qt. By the time I pay exchange and shipping it's still costing me about 15 bucks/qt so I buy at least 24 qt's at a time to save on shipping. So yeah $360 bucks for oil is a little steep. Thanks for the offer for the Amsoil and though I know it's a good oil also I'll stick with the Redline.

NO PROBLEM
Just here to help out all L owners get good oil and filters at good prices!!! I don't make any money off of it just here to help. I did it so I could get better pricing on oil for myself for my L and help people get the form so they can get the oil them self straight from Amsoil and cut out any middle man trying to make a big bucks on the mark up!!
