Blown318 just came by and had one getting ready to put it on.

Nice looking unit!!! Thats the one I'm getting.

Funny thing though, Anyone else notice the price jump on the Ford version of that fan. Jegs----Ford(#270)$393, all the others $379. Makes you think that they know these will sell. It's called supply and demand.

Cool

I recently spoke to Flex-A-Lite about this fan as well... It does seem like a great alternative to the other fans out there.

Does any one know if you will be able to use the Flex-A-Lite fan to cool down in the pits like the JDM fan? Is it just a matter of wiring an extra switch to give it constant power?

Looking forward to install comments/pictures, as well as opinions on performance.

Yes, it will work in the pits just a matter of wiring and the kit shows you how to wire in a manual switch !

How do you like your fan kit??. I am waiting on mine. Was the install pretty straight forward?

I was also looking for a little insight to the fan kit.

I did not plan on the water pump and stat change, unless that is a requirement.

I sent off 2 emails to Perf Products about the new fan kit they said they just finished, but have not heard back yet, and I want to move forward with this mod ( wanted it done BEFORE Summer....so that is out <g>).

I wanted to get a kit ordered, I am looking more so for the cooling aspect, rather then the HP / weight change that a L owner is seeking.

Any input on the install I would be thankful for, the last time I saw a post on this, the person indicated that he had to make a bracket ( I think the installer did this..don't recall the outcome on it Flex-a-lite did email the guy ).

thanks,

sms

Helpful Info !!!

The install went great ! Instruction leave a little to be desired, but its a new product. CFM rating is 5600, 2-15 inchers move some serious air. I noticed my cruise temp before the install hovered around 91-93' C. after the fan install I could never get it to go over 90 C. , even with the A/C on sitting at my favorite stop light for about 8-10 mins. Also a noticable reduction in Fan noise and the engine seemed to REV slightly quicker. My MPG has increased 1.3mpg this is documented. The next weekend after the install I raced at the local track. Alot of wait time in the staging lanes. Had no problems with temp. In fact, totally stock 2 weeks prior I ran 13.81 @ 101.8, OAT 68 F, when I ran with the Fans installed it was 91F and I ran 13.74 @ 102.4 with no other changes.

The install took about an hour. The difficult part is finding a wrench big enough to break loose the factory fan. The twin fan shroud fit a little tight against the radiator, but does fit with no mods to the factory radiator. The black cover over the radiator did need a little trimming to look right. If you get this kit for a Lightning the IC bracket does not come with the kit. A 1-800 # for Flex-a-lite is in the kit and they will overnight the IC bracket at no charge ! The bracket needed a slight bend to level the IC resivour but fit was good. The solid state circuit to control the fans works flawlessly. I have several PICs on how I did the wiring. If you need some ideas Email me and I will send you some PICS of the Install. jlund29@comcast.net

Hope this helps !
