And WOW on the SCT camcojb

You mean I can get a regular SCT and have it tuned so First gear DOES NOT shift until a desired MPH, and then the same for 2nd, 3rd, and OD ??? WOO HOO that would be as good as manually shifting it...............

Yes, as long as the mph requests don't exceed whatever rpm limit you have set for max rpm before shift. Only thing I can think of is it may take a few times to get them exactly where you want them as it uses different loads for different shift mph's.

This would not be terribly complex as I see it.

This may be an oversimplification, but it's not far off. We have to splice into the two leads that control the two shift solenoids. I believe it is the four combinations of voltage supplied versus no voltage to these two solenoids that controls the gear the transmission selects.

We have to find a four button controller where only one button will stay depressed, similar to the selectors on washing machine or a dishwasher. (I know it sounds rigged but that's what we need). This will prevent the selection of two gears at once. Each button will have two poles, in the correct combination of NO and NC configurations. The two solenoids are fed by the contacts on these buttons supplying voltage or not, to select the appropriate gear. Then there has to be a fifth button that selects either the manual control panel or returns the system to the PCM.

If nobody else grabs this and runs, I just may be forced into it myself because I would dearly like to have it in my truck.

Why reinvent the wheel?

The Baumann solution of using the cruise control buttons seems much more elegant. Press both, it goes manual. Accel/decel to up- and downshift. Press both again, it goes back to full auto.

The only improvement that I could see to this solution would be proper paddles behind the steering wheel rim.

nice thread guys

i havent been able to read all 87 pages.

i thinnk that a manual shift mode would be a great mod

the gear shifting would have to be done on both sides of the wheel left for down andright for up

So now, you Mr Tim, see what I put up with
This coming from a guy who's reaction time is best measured with an hour-glass

That was then Gator
Reaction time was something I've never paid attention to
or cared about FOR THAT MATTER. I don't bracket race, it's not my thing, I GO FOR NUMBERS, AND MY NUMBERS ARE BETTER THAN YOURS

You know many a moons (and decades ago) I was actually a very good Motor Cycle Bracket Racer, won some good money, and events at the time, NY + NJ.
Just for you I will work on my reaction times, and see if old Ronbo can't get back some of that magic "I USE TO HAVE"
As said it never mattered to me, BUT NOW IT DOES

BE AFRAID GATOR
BE VERY AFRAID

YOU GOING DOWN ET WISE (as usual) AND REACTION TIME NEXT TIME OUT

i think the gear changing buttons would have to be on opisite sides of the steering wheel

this would allow quicker shifts without the fear of hitting the wrong button

Does anyone wonder why Rob's reaction times are bad? Weed and good reaction times don't go together well. The first thing you have to do is remember why you are at the track.

Jerry

You will NEVER catch me doing that BEFORE the race,
now afterwards is a whole nother story............

As I said, it's very simple, I actually sit there until the light turns Green, AND THEN I Floor it. I race for numbers and numbers only, I have no desire to bracket race, however as I said, I will change that way of thinking NEXT TIME since the Gator seems to beat me at the light SINCE HE CAN'T DO IT WITH ET.
