Question Fuel and Fuel Gauge Problems

I have a '01 L and I'm having a problem with the fuel system. Sometimes the fuel gauge works and sometimes not. When I start her up and the fuel gauge is working and then drive somewhere and leave the engine running at idle, it will be reading "low fuel" when I return. I have ran out of gas twice in the last month when the gauge reads 1/4 tank and after the first time I took it back to the dealership and they replaced the entire instrument cluster. It worked great the first full tank, but guess what, not the second. Now I am noticing a hesitation on the highway when I am keeping a constant speed.

Can anyone help? Has anyone else had this problem?

Ben:

Here is a link to a similar problem for Corvettes:

Try a few tankfuls of Amoco and/or a fuel inj. cleaner and see if that get's rid of the sulphur/gauge sensor problem.

Thanks for the input

Thanks for the help. All of this started happening after I stopped to fill up at an Amaco station in the middle of BFE Georga on a road trip. I wonder if using a tank full of 100 octane will cure the problem. I think I'll give it a try and let everyone know.

Thanks Again, Ben
