Changing T-Stat Question?

I am changing my thermastat tommorrow with a Hypertech 160 degree . My question is as far as coolant-antifreeze should a fella mix water and coolant 50-50 or 100 percent. How much does it take and whats the best? Thanks for your help!

If u do it right you shouldn't spill that much coolant in the first place. i just got a big bucket and all the collant that came out of the hose was drained in the bucket. changed the stat while my buddy was holding the hose up and put it back together. not much collant was spilled.. just do it carefully and u should be fine.

Lightbulb Tim:

If you get a small(?) vacuum hose about 2 feet long and squeeze it on to the nipple at the bottm, rt. corner of the radiator, you can drain 1 1/2-2 gals of coolant out and then reuse it. Just pour it back in the reservoir as the eng is idling after you're finished. I didn't spill nary a drop this way.

Question

Tim: You don't give us enough info....what year L? How many miles on the coolant? I've got 30,900 miles on my 01 and it's as cool as a cucumber . I did add a bottle of Redline's Water Wetter to it right after I bot my L.

Sorry about that it's a 2001 16000 miles on her. I guess I will drain it alittle and just put back in what I used. I get the idea that the coolant does not need to be cleaned. Thanks man.
