Post 2005 Lightning News!

I just got the new issue of Street Trucks Magazine-Aug. 2002 and it says for 2005, the Lightning will have a Twin Supercharged DOHC 5.4 V8. There is also a spy photo of a heavily camouflaged 2004 F150. They write its a revamped version of the current the truck with the front-end styling of the F350 Tonka Concept and the Super Duties.

So they plan on ruining it and making it like the Tonka Toy. Lord I hope not. If I don't keep the L I have I won't be buying one of those.

twin supercharged? dohc??? are you joking? sorry if your not but this sounds too good to be true. i highly doubt ford would twin supercharge anything from the factory. just too many problems waiting to happen. maybe i dont know what the hell im talking about, but this just sounds too good.

Are you talking about the 32 valve DOHC 5.4? That is in the GT-40! I don't think it is twin s/c though, can someone back that up? 400HP with a 32 valve 5.4? No WAY!!! If it's anything like the GT-40's engine it will be around the 500 HP range. And with twin S/C oh man! Maybe more! J15big I agree, sounds too good to be true. Let's just pray Ford fans. If I see that engine put in the L this is what I'll look like- Can you give us a web site on that info.? Does the Mag. have a web site?

I'm so sure this small rag would have inside info like that before any of the larger RAGS would get it. Twin supercharging would be too costly on all counts (building, selling, owning, warrantying) and not to mention very inefficient.

Anyhoo, I call BS.

I predict a Supercharged 5.4 SOHC 24-Valve V8 w/ 425 hp and 500 tq.

Just my prediction.

I have been involved w/Ford for years. And in the end (production) $$$$ will rule the real deal.

I'd look for a better tuned 5.4L supercharged.

Anyone remember this??

Hmmm... I still dream about this and the other questions... just what will it be like?

The Tonka thing doesn't excite me at all. 2005 does't thrill me either.

But I'd take just about any of these choices!!
