Magnaflow Muffler

What is the part # for the Magnaflow Muffler for our Lightnings? What are the inlet sizes and out sizes. Dual- dual or what is the description?

14468 is the stainless DI/DO, 2.5".
It sounds awsome.

The sell at least 3 different mufflers that people on the boards use.

I don't know part numbers but the larger muffler is the one you want. longer i mean.

I use the 12568 which is longer (ablot same length as the stock muffler) because Jim at JDM said if you use the shorter one 12468 you will actually loose power due to the lack of enough backpressure. The only prob. w/ the 12568 is that it's barely louder than stock. I will hopefully be soon ordering a silver bullet

in following that philosophy, then long tubes are unnecessary since backpressure is reduced also?

Reducing backpressure will help if you are pushing more air into the engine, or something.

The quote above is absolutely FALSE. Not only will your truck gain power, it will also provide a potent and trick exhaust note.

The Stainless version looks mo-exactly for a very short time, but really, how many people notice the illusterious mirrored case after a few hundred miles?

They all look alike after a good rain storm anyway's. Save your money and go with the 12468 Then you can buy a PSP lower pulley with the money saved

i just quoted what the folks at JDM told me. They have done numerous dyno testing w/ most exhaust systems and mufflers out in the market. Why do you think they do not carry the 12468, but they do carry the 12568? The 12468 is shorter, thus louder, but it does cause a slight loss in power. The 12468 would suit a non supercharged engine that does not need to move as much air out.

Cool! That's what some of us want - just maybe 3-5 more dB. I don't want to wake people up or set off car alarms. I just want most people at the gas station to turn their heads when I fire it up.

Thanx for the info.

Q: 12568 vs. 12468?

A: tail pipes are easier to work perhaps?, jim's personal preference? cleaner install?

Now, back to the point

Supercharged applications need MORE back pressure than a naturally aspirated one?

so in essence and AGAIN keeping with this point of view, a set of long tube headers (one set of cats must go) and a 12468 actually causes power loss? Maybe on a stock truck.

no flame dude, just need clarification.. Sounds like someone blew smoke into your posterior region.
