450 rwhp easily

My buddie is a mechanic at a local mustang speed shop and he called me and told me about a lightning he just worked on. He put a 6# lower, dual electric fan, air raid, 75 shot wet kit, and a flip chip. The L put 450 to the wheels with stock exahust. He also said the truck is still running alittle rich. What i dont understand is why is everyone blowing motors with mods that have safe tunes. I want to mod my L, but dont want to get back into the samething as i did with my stang. Is there any L's put out good numbers that are holding up?

We put down closer to 500 RWHP (Did, till we put the built motor in the truck)... But have been through two motors doing it. It's not the tune... it's the stress over time put on the rotateing assymbly.

with nitrous its easy to put over 450 to the ground. but most people are looking for 450 off the juice...safely...thats the key!

I throwin down 424RWHP on the Street side of my chip, not sure abou the race side ( I'd say 10-15 more ) and then I have a 75 shot that should make it close to 500RWHP if not more than that!!! No problems so far!!!

Thats good to see that some people are having good luck with modding. I was just baffled that alot of people are having problems, maybe they are just milking every bit of HP they can instead of going safe with it.

Again, dont get me wrong... Our original motor lasted a year and a half with us pounding (going to the track two or three times a month) on it with nitrous. Then our second motor lasted another year with us pounding on it with boost and nitrous. And niether motor blew a rod or anything disasterous. They just had a knock in them that kept getting worse, but they were driveable. We are takeing this motor easy untill we can put out built long block in the truck...

Again, it's not the tune... It's just the stress over time.
