2004-2005 Lightning
I heard today at a SVTOA event from a good source that they spoke with someone that works where the testing takes place on the next generation lightning motors and it is supposed to be a 4 valve motor with blower and built bottom end that will produce 500-550HP at the crank! This will come with a very pricey cost of $45000-$50000 is what he told me! Ford is gearing this toward the new SRT10 when it comes out which has been moved back until the fall of 03 now is what my buddy told me who is in tight with dodge because of the new release of the viper model this year.Anyway it should be interesting to see which way ford goes with our trucks with a 3 valve or 4 valve.

That sounds very much like the engine for the GT40. I wonder if they are using the L as a mule for the GT40? They're in wildly different inertia categories, so the emissions and computer stuff would have to be redone, but they could be using the L to check for durability. If it will survive hauling around 4700 lbs, it should do fine in something around 2500 lbs.

Rumors shoemors, LoL.
Ford will not *** up and make us pay that much for our beloved Lightnings. Nope, no way.
It'll have 3-valve heads and more like 425 to 450 hp and 500+ tq, a diet to lose weight, and will cost 35,250.
That's just my rumor.
MIB II sucked, btw.

I would think you would be a little closer to what ford would do with the L's.
I just can't see ford upping the price tag 15 to 20 grand for just another what 3 to 4 grand in mods? Figure ford is going to ger better rods and pistons for less then a grand and a bigger eaton is what there most likely going to go with so thats not going to up it more then 500 to 1000 from the M112 unit. The tranny will be beefed up from what greg told me to a 5 speed auto with more power handling at no more cost then the 4R100. Besides that there's really nothing more that they could do to jump up the price that much.
They should also add some nice cross drillied brembo's like the cobra's have, I can see that happening!
The 9.75 rear end is plenty for the power.
The interior is already sweet with the exception of bucket seats.
What else is there? Maybe some 20" wheels for us too but thats about it from the 99 to 03 version's.
Also I just can't see them doing a 4 valve head when we would loose so much TRQ. You all know that the TRQ on this truck is what makes it some much fun to drive. How many other stock vehicles can you drive and have it put you back in the seat the way the L does when it drops from 3rd to 1st gear and jums up and goes!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just hope they make the new L's a bit sweeter looking then the EXPY's look now. There not all that appealing to me.

Look at the 03 Cobra.. That torque is right along the lines with the power output. Just like these trucks.
Your torque is coming from the roots blower.

It just seems like a lot of speculating. Has anyone thrown on a set of 4V heads on a L with a custom blower lower to prove this?
4V heads on a N/A motor will lose torque. At least on a 4.6. Ive never driven a Navi, so i dont know how the torque feels or seen a graph of its torque curve.
However. Placing a Kenne Bell atop of a 4.6 4V makes mucho torque and at very low rpms.
