Angry anyone have this prob yet?

Everytime I turn on my AC--a bunch of white flakes come flying out....looks like cigarette ash....problem is--no one is allowed to smoke in the L. It's been happening every since i had another AC problem---the AC blower/fan was going like crazy..with only very little flow out of the vents...After letting the truck sit awhile (and stomping around like a little kid)..the AC worked just fine--LOTS of nice cold air---with this mystery "ash" when i turn it on?....Its going into Ford when i get a day off.....just wondering if anyone else had this problem--or knows what it might be!!!!

Keep the forum strong...

Red face yes, but not in the Lightning...

the white 'ash' turned out to be leftover glass dust from a shattered windshield...

There is a TSB for this problem. See if I can find the number.

I have experienced the same problem after using a certain touchless carwash in my area. It must be some product they use that dries in the system if the AC is left on while the vehicle goes through the tunnel. Sounds wacky, but I've seen what you're talking about first hand.

I had that problem when i went through the car wash and my air was on. Pretty bubbles through the vent.

My 01 HD does that too. There is a TSB on it but it involves tearing pretty much the whole dash out to replace soemthing. I know if I had that done it would look like ***** when it was done and probably rattle like He11. I'm just going to live with it.

Question Any more news on this?

Was doing a search on something unrelated and I came across this post. My '01, which was bought last May, has just started doing this. I'm getting good flow through my vents, my truck just has dandruff!

Talking Warrenty Time

Yes I had that problem,

It is called the coating is comeing off the heater plenum and it is corrected by taking your truck to the Ford Dealer You Trust (if there is such place) there is a service bulliton on it they will completely dismantle wour dash into 900000000000 little pieces replace the ductworking put it back together and still have a handful of bolts and screws that there are not sure were they came from. This will correct the ask or snow problem in your Lightning. If you have any questions call 1-800-463-3612 and ask for norm in service.

I have not had the flakes but on my 01 and the last 99 I had..there was a distinct smell at times..just like stall cigerette smoke...I don`t smoke ..no one in my family smokes...sad Ford can't do something about this...other than tearing everything apart..why not fix the design or materials...

Same reason they don't fix the "clunk" ... only a few trucks have it
despite what you glean from here. I think the members here are
more concious of what their vehicles are doing than any bunch I've
met yet.

So fixing 50 ?? trucks outta 4000 is much cheaper ... Ford's big
goal for this quarter is to NOT lose 4.5 Billion like last quarter.

I could live with anything short of bullits coming through the vents before I would let a dealer tear the dash apart.
