Question Soft Tounneu installation...Need help please>>

I just received a factory soft Tounneu cover that someone from here gave me. That's another story which I'll post later.

Anyway..I'm a little confused as to what goes where. Could someone point me in the right direction? I have the two side rails - 2 other rails and the 2 small poles which I guess keep the cover taught.

Any info would be appreciated!!

Thanks.

Dan,

You should have two side rails that have clamps on them. They go on the side rails of the bed and are held in place with two clamps on each one. Use an allen wrench to slightly tighten one in place. Insert the front rail, the smaller of the two, into the front end of the side rail and go to the other side and insert the front rail into the other side rail.

Slightly tighten the clamps and slide the rear rail into the side rails. It's a pretty tight fit but it will work. The rear rail is the larger of the two and has a rubber weather strip on it. This W/S is what seals the tailgate and makes it water tight.

Square the whole mess up and tighten the allen screws in the side rails.

The two bowed round rails fit into notches in the inside of the side rails and are spring loaded. One is longer than the other.

Good luck, holler if you need some more help.

Thanks, Tim. I put two and two together while I was outside and got it together exactly as you describe here.

Putting the cover on now and something just doens't look right with the front clips being outside of the top of the cover? Let me go take another look (after downing a gallon of water..damn 99 degrees and humid!!!).

If I can't figure it out I'll post back.

Thanks alot for the reply!!

Dan,

What clips? It's not the snap type cover is it?

Tim

Edit: DUH, There are clips that are outside, on top of the cover. That's normal. Have a cold one, you did good!

Hold that beer for one second. How is the front of the cover secured then? And what are those clips for? I just looked again and can't make heads or tails of it. The cover doesn't go UNDER the bulkhead rail does it?

DUH to me. x 100

I'm comfuseded.

Thanks for the help

Dan,

The clips are to secure the cover when it's rolled up to the front of the bed. You insert the straps into the clips to hold the rolled up cover.

The front of the cover has a "roll" of something (maybe plastic) sewn inside it. This roll has to slid into the slot in the front rail from *either side* It doesn't matter which side it slides into but once slid in, that's what holds it secure.

Keep me posted, damnit! Now, have that beer, I am! hehehehe

Alright. Dinners ready. Gotta eat. I'll check back in a few after I go back outside. And yes, I'll have a beer with dinner.

FWIW..There's no plastic lip on the front edge of the cover like along the sides and back. Doesn't look like anything is torn or missing though. May'be there is something missing that I don't know to look for?

See ya' in a few..

Thanks..

Just got the bra and cover today. Not going to put the bra on until I take a long trip. If you do a search on "front bra", you'll find a crap load of posts about them including pics. I know...I did it today.
