pretty happy......

Well guys and girls, first time ever at the track on Friday. I think I am pretty happy witht the results. I ran 2 * 13.28 and then the last run tried something different and ran a 13.765. But man, I was the only L at the track and I was the most popular one too!! Some guys were running low 9's in the domestic class, but couldn't wait to get out of there rides to check the L out. Never expected that! Anyway, hope you guys are having a good one...and SVTGirl...thanks for the pics this morning of the F1 and friends....very nice

Michael
2001 L

PS....go see the movie "Signs" with Mel Gibson. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!Scared the crap out me.

Also what was the temperature when you made your runs?? I ran mine last Friday in 93* heat and my times were embarassing. But after seeing all the other cars running slow I felt a little better.

Well, the temp was about 70F and only 65% humidity. The last run was bad because the sun went down and the dew screwed up the track...everyone's time was a lot slower.
I am running the Superchip 'Lightning program'. have an Airaid and just put on the Borla exhaust..(which I wouldn't do again...wanted more of a growl. It isn't bad but just wanted it a bit deeper)

This is probably a stupid question, but its best to race with as little of fuel in the tank as possible right?

SPANKDOG: My stock '01 pulls consistant 13.7's. My best is a 13.67 @ 100.53mph. My 13.7 runs, I usually had 1/4 tank of gas. My 13.67 pass I had just under 1/2 a tank. Hope this helps. Good luck!

That helps, thanks. It will be my first time racing anything at the track and my first time with my truck so I'm just trying to get everything figured out so I have a good run. Thanks

Don't know how much you've practiced launching, but these beasts can eat up some tires, and that kills you ET. I usually run my rpm's up to around 1400-1500 (anymore and she'll spin). When the last yellow light flashes, give it about 1/2 -3/4 throttle (any more and the tires bust loose). Just after my rear tires clear the tree, give it the rest. That technic has helped me control my monster. Just about everyone you talk to will tell you something different, but the key is: try alot of different things and find the method you're most comfortable with and have fun! Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks Blown Hard. I found out quickly that warming the tires up at all just ruins the run. I tried to launch it at about 1700 -1800 RPM but just spun for the first second or so. I also tried taking my F1s to about 24PSI. Didn't get a real good feel for it. Guys will tell you one thing and aothers something completely different. I guess the all true way of ensuring total launch is a pair of MT's. Don't know if I want to drop $700 for 3-4 times at the track though.......company expense????
