SC Replaced at 6500 miles on 02L

I started hearing a noise which I thought was comming from the engine. So I took it to the dealer for the noise and the driver seat wear problem. I was shocked when I picked it up and found out they changed the Super Charger and Plenium. It took away the noise and the engine runs quieter than ever. One thing all of you should check. The oil level in the SC. The tech said mine was low. I don't know if this caused the problem or not.

SpankDog -
There's an allen head plug on the front of the SC. Remove plug. The oil should be up to the bottom of the hole the plug came out of. The oil is Ford P/N E9SZ-19577-A.
I'm going to check mine right away!

Question

Out of curiosity, what kind of noise were you hearing? I guess i'll have to check my supercharger oil when morning comes since I forgot that the Eaton roots type blower is internally lubricated.

Question

Hold on, according to the instruction manual or maintanence guide that came with our vehicles, it states to check the level of the supercharger oil every 30k miles, so unless it was leaking, it couldn't have been low so quickly unless it came factory filled low.

Hey guys,
I do the pre delivery inspection up here for the local svt dealership and I have had 2 come in with low oil in the supercharger, filled them to proper level and sent them on there way, no leaks just low from factory, ohh and the noise kinda sounded like a bearing starting to go a little whine to it, no throttle of course just at a idle and constant..
Hope this answer's your ques....
later..

I thumbed through my sceduled matinanence manual and never saw anything on checking the oil level in the blower. I had just thought it used the engine oil to lube it. Where excactly did you find this?

My blower makes a slight "gear" racket in my '02 that my '01 never made. Hmmm, I will check mine later.

Just checked mine and it was overfilled. It also had lots of little metal shavings in it. I have changed the upper pulley a few times.
3/16 allen wrench is what I used for the allen wrench.

I checked mine as I check my engine oil, on a slope. It seems like I always use less oil that way.

Now for the tough question.. How would one go about changing the blower oil. Does it involve dismantling it?? Oil dosent last forever so it seems it should be changed sooner or later..

For you guys with 30K miles and over, i'd be changing that fluid. They may say it's a sealed unit. BMW says their trannies are sealed now, but those in the know go through the trouble of changing it. I would think after 30K or 4 years to go ahead and change it. Whichever comes first.

Use a pump to syphon it out. Like the hand pumps they sell for bleeding brakes.
