I have anywhere from 4.5 to 5 when my low fuel light comes on as it will take 20 to 20.5 gallons to fill it up at that point and the tank should hold 25 as that is what FORD says it holds.

Why would anyone WANT to try this?? Isn't all you're doing in the long run, screwing up your fuel filter..........Don't they recommend that you try not to let your fuel tank go below 1/4 tank?? Is this accurate, or have I been bull$hat on since I first learned how to drive??
Im with you JC. Since I started driving (not long ago at all), my dad has always told me to keep a 1/4 tank. Either he was trying to help me take care of my truck, or just didn't want to get his lazy self up to come bring me a can of gas when I run out? I dunno.
I think the have the fuel light so inaccurate because they don't want the fuel pumps exposed to air, they're cooled by the fuel, continuous running on low fuel may result in premature fuel pump failures.
