Clearance between stock fan and radiator.

I havent had my truck for 7 months now and cant remember how much space there is between the stock fan and the radiator. Im asking because I want an electric fan but I will always be worried that something will go wrong with it and I will have no cooling. So I was thinking of keeping the stock fan and adding the electric one(Flex A Lie). Is there any reason why I cant or shouldnt do this?

Thanks

Going from memory here, there is not enough room to do this, and if you did..........are you talking about having 2 fans?

I was thinking of keeping the stock fan on there and adding the flex a lite unit(which is two fans built into one shroud)

Even if there was room, what would be the point? Your still going to be loosing power from the mechanical fan and everything else that goes along with it, and you wouldnt need the electric fans since the mechanical fan would always be running.

I guess your right. I wasnt really looking for extra power, just extra cooling. It would probably be overkill to have both though. Ill just got with the flex a lite unit when I get the money.

thanks

I agree that two fans seem to be overkill. But, you could put a "pusher" type electric in front of the radiator and A/C condenser. If I were doing this I would not put a shroud on the electric so that no air is blocked.

Also, it is rare, but clutch fans can fail. I have had it happen to me. You end up replacing everything on the cooling system first because you don't think about the clutch failing.
