Obviously tailgate down - no wind resistance.

Not always true......I heard that with the tailgate down the vacuum is worse than with it up.

There was a thread a while ago where someone did a bunch of testing with all kinds of scenarios........maybe someone knows where it is.

Good point, Soap - but look at it this way: (obviously, this is speculation at this point, I'm sure the tremendous cavity of a bed must have SOME effect on airflow) - Not talking about safety, which vehicle would have a higher top-end? The vehicle with a spoiler? Or the exact same vehicle without?

Personally, I run the tonneau cover... I'm suprised it hasn't come off at speed, but the stitching is starting to pull through - I've had my truck up to 170, on the built-in odometer function's electronic speedometer... That curbed rim makes a HUGE difference in smoothness at that speed!!

Only slightly?? Honestly - it was the first time I've ever been scared in a car, with myself driving!

Not to mention - I LITERALLY was watching the gas needle move, in real-time!

Only ran that fast for about a second though - no passengers, wouldn't put anyone else at risk WITH me... If a deer or something jumped out in front of me, I don't even want to IMAGINE the mess....

Worst part is, that was a public highway, at about 5:30 in the morning, on the way back from Florida...... Also the dumbest thing I've probably ever done.

Regardless, though, that tonneau cover held up, for the most part!

Who cares about the stupid deer........imagine what your truck would look like

Only good thing is that you would have free jerkey for a year

Later,
Hate to tell you, it did it. Don't know how accurate the electronic speedo is, though. Just short of redline, 4th gear. 6lb pulley, t/b, cat-back exhaust, JL air intake, high-volume water pump on the i/c, i/c fans, diablo chip w/top-end tune, etc... There's a bit more on there, but I tend to forget some stuff here and there, once in a while... I plan on porting/polishing the intake, hopefully this weekend, if not next. At that time, I also had a 2lb upper on the truck.

Haha - the whole thing would just be a MESS - the L, the deer, everything... My question is, is there a certain point in speed, where I would just BLOW through the deer, unscathed?

Problem is, I'd probably be PART of that jerkey!

Took a while to climb there, though - I got to about 130-140 pretty quickly, and it started to creep from there. I hit 150 ALOT faster than my old Stealth RT/TT though.... That thing made up for the lack of aerodynamic drag with drivetrain drag, though...

Hell, I'd love to take this thing on the Autobahn, or a cannonball run.... I'd just be worried about obliterating this stock motor and trans.... Could you imagine trying to sustain like 140+ in this thing??
