Thumbs up Oil Separator Mod

I did my oil separator today, I used some black paint to repaint the filter body. I got all the parts I needed at Home Depot for around $25.00.. I got the 90 degree vacuum hose at the local parts store and trimmed the ***** out of it, not much left but it fits perfect...........Here is a picture:

Thanks for all the info, BTW mine already has oil in it after a 15 mile jaunt ..JR

TZRider and TROUBLE both did this. In just a few days of having it on, at the Miami meet at Tower Shops, it had quite a bit of oil in it already...

part #s

SLVRLTNG,

What are the names and #s of the parts you got from Home Depot?
I assume this mod is supposed to keep oil out of the intake?

Thanks!

Question questions about this mod

SLVRLTNG or Mecca,
I went to Home Depot and Lowes and unfortunately they don't have the parts I need. They have plenty of Amsol stuff but not much Campbell Hausfeld.
But while I was looking for the parts I was thinking about something. I'm sort of new to the oil in the intake problem.
How does the oil get into the intake?
Are we sure the oil getting into the intake isn't there to lubricate something?
I'm just surprised that Ford would not put a filter there from the factory to stop this problem.
Also, could the oil clog up the filter that is part of this mod and thus cut off air flow to whatever this connects to on the intake?

Sorry to ask so many questions but I had some time to think about it while I was searching the home improvement mega stores.

Thanks,
Eric

Keeps oil from being sucked into your plenum

Hey SLVRLTNG: Keep an eye on that vacuum hose...I tried that on my first oil separator and the hose kinked (read blocked air) when my engine heated up. A plastic 90 works better! TZRIDER has a bunch of these made w/ the plastic 90...I'll see if I can get a picture

I read in MM&FF that the oil that enters the TB boot is sucked from the valve seals during hard DEceleration, and that this can be reduced by replacing the oil filler cap with a breather... does this have any merit??

I have heard that installing a breather without a chip can set a code

You must have been looking pretty hard to notice those beads...LOL. No sir, that is not how I acquired them. On the contrary; I was given them for being one of the few who did NOT do that.
