4/6
I only use the 4# er but i got the interchangeable
4/6 # lightningforceperformance set up.so far iam happy ,but will most likely sell the setup to go with a cage setup, just MY opinion the cage is there for a reason and i definetly want my L to last, not that it wont with the uncaged version but , i will end up caged.

caged or uncaged
I am thinking about a lower pulley but all of the talk of caged pulleys and uncaged ones, has there been any negatives associated with uncaged pulleys. I know the jdm interchangeble ones are pretty expensive. Just wondering.

From what I have read, I saved my money and got an uncaged. Unless proven otherwise, I believe the cage necessity is a myth. Their purpose might be justified in a few years when people start getting into the 100k mile range, but untill then.........the uncaged hasn't given anyone any trouble. The main and possibly only reason for the cage would be "to protect the front main crank bearing". There are a few people on here that have run pulleys for many miles and opened up the engine to find no wear on any of the crank bearings. When you think about it, is the tension from the belt really going to mess up your crank bearings? The answer so far has been 'no way'. I believe the cage was put on there to either support the weight of the stock pulley (which is made of steel and rubber, much heavier than an aluminum pulley), or for some sort of sound regulation. The uncaged/caged pulleys work exactly the same, and I just haven't seen any problems with uncaged on any motors yet........so thats the way I went. If you need the peace of mind of having a big metal support behind the light pulley, then that is your desiction. But i've also heard of people having trouble getting the caged design off.......... For me signs just pointed to uncaged.

Re: ok, I want a pulley. So be sure I understand
