I need help from the mod experts...
Hey guys,
I just bought a 2002 Bright Red L.
If you guys have the time, I have a few questions.
1.) What 1/4 mile time should I be getting bone stock?
2.) Will a superchip, intake, and bassani catback get me into the 12's?
3.) How much will 20" chromes with a 50 series tire slow my 1/4 mile time by?
4.) Are there any 'free' mods I can do to increase hp or drop weight?
Thanks a bunch guys, I've wanted a Lightning since forever and now Im taking delivery within 24 hours.... What a rush!

1) Depends on conditions. I have heard of low 15s to very low 13s stock. I would expect probly around a 13.5 stock.
2) Should, but you have to get a good launch
3) I dont know this for sure, but I think a bigger overall diameter(which you will have with 20s) will give you less acceleration but better top end. So maybe your 1/8 mile will suffer but you will make up for it by the end of the 1/4. Dont quote me on any of that...
4) The only two free mods I know of are holes on the bottom of your airbox and to adjust the boost acutator(someone will post a link to insturction on the boost acuator). With those "mods" you will see minimal gains at best but there will be some. As for weight: remove pass seat, hitch, spare, jack, and tailgate.
With the mods listed in #2 and wight reduction, Im almost sure you will be in the 12s.
Good luck!

1. In hot, humid air, low 14s to mid-13s...........
2. No. Btw, I got into the high 12s with the OEM exhaust(and several mods).
3. Don't do it if your main goal is quicker ets--more unsprung(bad) weight--and what J15BIG said.
4. Disconnect the boost dump solenoid(do a search), disconnect or remove the front anti-sway bar, pump up the front tires to 40 psi, 'ice' the upper intake before launching, Redline Water Wetter(only $8?) in the intercooler reservoir/radiator, change to a 5W20 synthetic oil(not free..), and fold the outside mirrors 'back' .

However the equation for what you new gearing would be with different tires has left my brain some time last week. So hopefully someone will post it
