You're kidding, right?
If you really want an 11 second or better car, don't butcher an original car!

well, i already shattered a piston in the 289. so its either a rebuild or a brand new 345 HP SVO 302 crate engine for about the same cost. id rather have the new engine and a butt-load of power!!

When you install that crate motor, will the local laws force you to use emmisions equipment and cats? My '65 has a stock 289 4v, but its not the original engine block (everything else is stock). I've always wanted to put a 302 or 351 crate motor, but I've been told I have to comply with emmisions standards. I wish Ford would make a fuel injected high perf 289 crate motor though.

You have an unbelievable car! I would love to own a 1st gen camaro like that some day. 1 of less than 2000 made, you must have paid a pretty penny for that rocket when it has been restored that well!

no, i wont have to smog it after the new engine goes in. in NV they go by the year of the car only. 67' and older do not require smog check. i have a friend that has a 55 chevy that he put a new crate motor in and still didnt have to. i dont know what your laws are but i plan to have a well running motor when im done smog check or not....chris
