Question Break in 4 Built motor

I'm currently having a built short block implanted into my 2000 L and was hoping I could get a little help on proper break-in procedure (if any is needed). I know there must be a few of you guys out there with "built" motors and I would appreciate any input on this matter. Also, I'm a big fan of synthetic motor oils, and have been using either Mobil 1 or Amsoil full synthetic in my truck with good results. How soon would be a good time to put a good synthetic oil in my new built motor? Thanks 4 any help at all, John H.

I d/k about a built motor but you surely want the rings to have enough time to seat and seal in the cylinders. I changed over(OEM motor) to Royal Purple synthetic at 4,000 miles.

When JDM built my motor he put a deturgant oil in it. He told me to change to 10W-30 Mobil one when it reached 500 miles.

I drove mine home, then drove it around normally till I reached 500 miles. Then I changed the oil and hit the track.

I second that way. Break it in hard and it will run faster & better...

Talking Hammer Down !!!

Hey guys, thanks for the input, I guess I'll have to buy stock in Goodyear Tire Company, hehehe. Hey Pete, I'm doing OK, how about you? If you're at JDM anytime soon, do me a favor and take a couple of spy photos of my truck for me, it's still under the knife and I'd like to see how the operation is progressing, thanks alot in advance, later, John H.
