Thumbs down Intercooler has gone from green to brown!!!

I want my intercooler resuviour(sp) to be green again. Most people I've talked to say this is rust. How do I get the rust off so I can see green again!!

Have you ever put ice in it??

What you have to do is drain it, fill it with distilled water and run it for a while. Then drain and refil with 50/50 mix of anifreeze and distilled water.

I allways use distilled water when I fill my radiator, ot intercooler resevour.

Nope, never put ice in. Will the distilled water get all the brown off the sides?

That's the intercooler recall for the intercooler under the supercharger. What I'm talking about is this.

My fluid is brown, not green. Anyone have any more info on this. Thanks

Hmm...That's nuts. Do you think he's gettin' oil or supercharger lube in there or something?

Exclamation If there is a hole in the intercooler

you could be mixing fuel into your intercooler coolant circuit.

The antifreeze in the intercooler and intercooler radiator should prevent any rusting. So, if you never had only water in there, it can not be rust. It must be some other contaminant.

I would replace all the fluid and check it closely for a week or so for color changes.

How about a pic...

Hmmmm, that is a strange color. I have never seen it turn that color. You may consider changing the coolant and see if it returns to that color quickly. Whatever made it turn, it can't be "normal" I wouldn't think.

hMMM.....That almost looks like engine oil is getiting into the coolant somehow but I am not sure that is possible. Is your coolant kind of sludgy looking?

I agree about the possible oil getting in there, but without a quick course in intercooler 101 I couldn't tell you how that could possibaly be happening. From WHAT I CAN SEE IN THE PICTURE, it seems like a seperations of two differant fluids mixed in there.
THIS IS PLAINLY NOT A GOOD SIGN.

Unhappy The level is too low as well...

Did you always own/service the truck yourself ?

It looks like there was/is something in there that does not react well with the antifreeze-water.
