And I still have top end detonation......I am thinking two things.

A: The toluene hasnt mixed in with my gas yet (15 gals), and I still need a chip reburn.

B: My plugs are gapped to wide. I gapped them to what i thought was about .44 , but it was with a *****ty plug gapper. Can that cause detonation???

Not much toluene....

That's very little Toluene for that much gas.

If you had 92 in the tank you've gone to 94 octane.

I tend to blend it 2 parts gas 1 part toluene (for my race mix) resulting in 100 octane.

What octane was your chip burned for?

strange.....i calculated that i should have around 95 octane since i filled it up with 93. but maybe my calculations are off. Just took it for another spin and didnt get any detonation

Probably need to mix with the gas more, a suggestion the next time to try this, if you plan to have say 8 gals 93 and 2 gals toluene, I remember from racing GN's before that it was beneficial to put in 6 gals 93 and then mix 2 gals of 93 and 2 gals toluene. Then pour the mixed solution into the tank.I think it had something to do with toluene being bad for the gas tank? when poured directly in, hope someone else can chime in on this. I also feel your ratio of gas to toluene is a bit off and might be more advantageous with a closer ratio.

The wider the gap the easier it is to blow out the spark ...

I think your at about 95 1/2 Octane ....

15 2

[(x * 92) + (y * 114)] / (x + y) = z

I have a chip that was tuned for 91, but it pings on 91 anyways. I need to put 4 gallons of toluene in a full tank to get rid of my detonation, so you may want to try adding a bit more.

ditto on that one, get a nice feeler gauge and redo the gaps. .38 should be about right for your setup.

.44 is to big of a gap for a TR6.

you shouldn't need more then 93 octane gas cause the tuners don't make street programs standard with anything more then 93 octane.
