Just picked up a Lightning.

I just bought an 01 Lightning off the net. 13k miles mint condition for $24,500. The finance company told me i'd be stupid not to buy it for that.. I traded my 02 WS6 to get it. Let me tell you, this L has alot more low end torque than the TA. Now that's 4 vehicles I own, and all 4 are forced air. (87 GN, 2500ram TD, Isuzu npr TD, and the L) I can't wait for wed (track rental at lvd in ny) to get some base line run in before a couple of basic mods. These trucks are a blast!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I can't stop driving this thing!! The modding will begin when the GN is done. The GN has ever "go broke" prt in it. I have a 4.1l stage 2 motor with a T-88 dbbl bb turbo, Ford 9", TH400 etc. People ask what a stage 2 isand i just tell them its a fast way to go broke, but actually it was a block Buick made for Indy cars and Busch North cars. InBusch North they were 550hp NA,with a big turbo mine is around 1000 rwhp.

The L has a K&N and i have a Diablo chip i'm gonna try after i get some base line passes on wed. I'm weary of putting the chip in until i find a scantool to monitor knock retard and 02's. Does anyone make one??

Thanks again for the welcome...Scott

Congrats. The L will have much more bottom end then the LS1. You will find you will take them out of the whole but they will fly on by after.
Take my story for example... I have a cousin with a 1998 Corvette C5 6 speed. When I was stock I would get 2 cars on him off the line and he would go past me at a good rate by about 65mph. Aftyet $600 worth of mods though I am a good 3 cars ahead of him up to 110 mph. This was confirmed at the track when we ran each other. I ran 12.87@105mph and he ran a best of 13.2 @106.5mph.

Congrats and have fun!

Thumbs up GNs Rock!

Congrats on the purchase man. Sounds like you have one sick GN too. I have a 4.1 in the shop right now short block is all done. I just need the cha ching to buy everything else. HaHa. We have 6 turbo cars in our family. I have an 87 GN and an 87 WE4 w/ T-tops that is almost fully restored. Brother has an 87 GN-11.6 on street chip with 17LBS boost. Father has an 86 GN and an 87 Turbo T. And we have a hot air car. Well anyways good luck with the Lightning. Go Fast.

Oh and NTIMD8 what does your 95 Z-28 run I have heard good things about Agostino. -Mat-

Boy you can sure tell them GN owners!!! Unfortunately I don't believe there is tool similar to the famed ScanMaster for the L. I was shocked to find out that these trucks don't even have a functional knock sensor!! Keep good gas in it. What COLOR is your black Lightning? It better be Black!!!

Congrats!

That's one bad GN you've got! My dad has a mint 87 GN with 3000 miles on it. Love that car. I woulda bought one if I had the funds back then.

Will your L join the 9 second club too?
