Question Buying a Used L?

Hello everyone! I'm new here, and have a few questions for all you experts.

Is it wise to buy a used L?

Is it wise to buy a used L from a used truck dealership?

Can a mechanically challenged individual like myself open the hood and spot modifications that would void any remaining warranty and/or wear and tear on the engine/drivetrain and/or if it has seen its' days at the racetrack?

Should a mechanically challenged individual like myself even own an L?

Are there major differences between the current model and 2000 model year L's?

This L would be my daily driver, and get me off the Yamaha 650 (too many close calls this summer).

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!!

Used Lightning

I don't see a problem buying a used L if you choose carefully. Most Lightning owners take very good care of their trucks.

The actual vehicle is the important thing - not were you buy it. Production is low, so they can be hard to find.

I see no problem with a “mechanically challenged” individual owning one. You should probably have it checked out by a knowledgeable person before buying. Same as with any used car.

Horsepower went from 360 to 380 in 2001. The axle ratio was dropped to 3.73. That makes the 2001 and 2002's a little quicker in stock condition. But you should be VERY happy with the performance of a 1999 or 2000.

Happy hunting!
