And how exactly do you have a set since they don't exsist yet? I'm a ModMax dealer and talk to Dale on a weekly basis, and as of last week, they still are not finished.

Edit: I just called Dale and he told me that they got their first shipment of cams in last week. So my apologies .

The cams are $399 each, and will also require purchasing 96-98 style bolt on cam gears and bolts. I've talked to ModMax about which grind should work best on the Lightning, and have a set on the way for testing.

the place i got them from they were 380 a piece, but the grinds were really aggressive, so you had to get a set of modmax springs which were another 250 and on top of that you have to get the cam gears to replace the press on ones on the stock cams which were another 56, so all in all be prepared to pay about 1200 after shipping. but i cant wait to hear what my truck sounds like!!! Sal i will sometime in the near future need a chip to go with the cams...until then the sit and wait for my measly income...

$1,200??? No flame or insult to the wallet. They did dyno the protoypes right? Is there any dyno information on these cams? Or did they sell these off of some model predictor as to the gains on hp and torque.

Sure you can get cams ground to give you the big block sound. What did they tell you the performance gains were going to be for $1,200?

Roush made some experimental cams and were able to get an extra 25hp on a 00 Lightning engine. I hope you get at least 18hp and more torque for that much. Again, No flame here!

well i dont really remember what modmax had said about perf. gains. but labor isnt anything, cuz i have a good buddy in balch springs that builds nhra racing motors (pretty well known guy) thatll put them in for me as well as port heads...blah blah blah...but anyways if i see no performance gains...well then im screwed and wasted time/money. but i look at it as a learning experience for me and yall. so i will fill you in once everything is done. besides SHM sells supercharger cams that go in saleens and mustangs and L's that are very similar to the modmax and people say that it gives them a respectable gain in hp. (i dont really remember where i read this, so i could just be pulling this out of thin air). but how could a better and higher ground cam not give even a minor increase in hp? well we will soon find out...

No flame taken!

I am sure that there is going to be a power increase with a cam change if you use the right cams.

But a lot of guys want a Rumpety idle and that seems to be there motivation for changing cams.

I dont think a Rumpety idle AND a horse power increase are going to happen at the same time.....at least not with a stock blower anyway.

I hope I'm wrong....we'll see.
