Revving engine to max rpm

My friend loves to start his truck when its cold and rev the engine wide open (usually it will choke out) Is this a good way to break the engine in ?? Tonight it started smoking out of the tailpipe .

Your friend is an idiot........there is no oil in the top of the motor yet when you first start it.

Where do you fill the oil so it will be ok? Do you have to do that everytime you start it or just when it is cold? I dont have to do that in my mom's car..

Yes, thats a great way to break the engine in quickly. Your ET's will also increase significantly.

You actually add oil to the gas tank, like a chainsaw.

This smells like a joke to me. He got me with the original post, but the follow-up is just too outrageous to believe.

Where's that BS flag image...?

Cold Engine - No Oil

When you start a cold engine, your oil has mostly drained down to the pan and will take a few seconds to get it circulating through-out the engine after starting. You should let it warm up through the fast idle function, which automatically kicks down when the engine is somewhat warmed up. Especially important to warm up your engine (low rpms) in colder climates (trannie lasts longer if you drive in low, & slow for a short distance to warm it up before you tromp on it also).

Blue,

Tell him to pump it 6 times, hold his foot to the floor, crank it up. When it starts, let the RPM's go to exactly 5000 RPM, then immediatly through it in reverse.

Hopefully he'll blow the Motor and Tranny together, and we won't have another http://albinoblacksheep.com/flash/sierranaked.jpg/
to deal with.
