Cold Engine - No Oil
When you start a cold engine, your oil has mostly drained down to the pan and will take a few seconds to get it circulating through-out the engine after starting. You should let it warm up through the fast idle function, which automatically kicks down when the engine is somewhat warmed up. Especially important to warm up your engine (low rpms) in colder climates (trannie lasts longer if you drive in low, & slow for a short distance to warm it up before you tromp on it also).

Tell him to pump it 6 times, hold his foot to the floor, crank it up. When it starts, let the RPM's go to exactly 5000 RPM, then immediatly through it in reverse.
Hopefully he'll blow the Motor and Tranny together, and we won't have another http://albinoblacksheep.com/flash/sierranaked.jpg/
to deal with.
