Would anybody be interested in a Carbon Fiber Hood group purchase?

Hi all, I've been thinking alot about the hood thing lately. and I know this may sound ricey, but has anybody thought of a carbon fiber hood? I thought they were only for hondas, but I saw this one at the Saleen show in September and it really grew on me. It was very clean and the picture doesn't do it justice. the edges of the hood are painted body color overlapping the carbon fiber and then there is an accent color as a border around the carbon fiber window. I'm not sure if the whole hood is carbon fiber or just the center part, but I think the whole hood. anyway, here's the pic:

I was thinking of this because I was trying to think of a cool color to contrast or compliment a Sonic Blue truck, and I'm no graphic designer or whatever, but that seems to be a hard color to work with. I thought the carbon fiber might be a subtle but cool choice, blue edges with black center??? just a thought. there is a company that'll make the hoods. we'd have to pay for the mold then the hoods would be like 600 a piece I think?

what do you guys think?

later,
chris

P.S. also, they can make the hoods from that same mold and have them primered grey so you can paint to match your truck. OR, they can do the Carbon Fiber material in COLORED FIBERS sounds like a lot of possibilities to me, plus the weight savings?

I'd assume that

I would be interested in a carbon fiber hood. I think shipping to Hawaii would be a little pricey. I know the carbon fiber hood weighs several pounds more than a stock hood.

is there one on the market already that i'm not aware of? if so then this is pointless to have a new mold made to make more with another company. who makes the one you are speaking of?

APC sells a carbon fiber hood. I have no idea on the quality of the APC hood, but it looks good. Your idea would be better if they could mold a scoop of some type into the hood.
A carbon fiber cowl hood would be bad a$$.
Here's a crappy pic of the APC hood.

that truck looks cool in motion like that.

here's what I don't like though, with the carbon fiber over the whole hood, it looks (IMHO) like the truck just isn't finished, you know like when people drive around with their mustang and their new cowl hood in gel coat white unpainted on a red or black car. I'm not flaming because I like the truck, but I'd just prefer something more like the Saleen pictured above, the "window" of carbon fiber effect to me looks more finished or detailed. you know what I mean?

can these things be painted? I meant the ones that are delivered clear coated, could they be made to look like the car up top?

thanks,
chris

P.S. a cowl fiber hood would look pretty tricky, that way the carbon fiber would stand out even more.

thats almost EXACTLY what I was looking for.

but now I'm not sure if I like it as much as I'd thought

not that it's not a nice truck, just maybe it doesn't look like I thought on the black, maybe on a different color it would contrast more?

thanks for those pictures everyone.

later,
chris

P.S. now is that a whole carbon fiber front end? or is that just a graphic or something? I see carbon fiber look on the grill and around the foglamp openings. what gives?

I'd be interested if it is a cowl of some sort... the bigger blower I eventually will be bound to get won't fit under that one above.
