Just a thought but one could make up some fittings so that you run two filters in parallel and double your flow/filtration capacity?

As usual, Stan is right on the money. I am an attorney who works for an aftermarket supercharger manufacturer. The reason they can get CARB certified is that the EPA driving cycle used to test the emissions for CARB is a simulated highway run which does not have the vehicle going into WOT. If the cycle required the engine to go into WOT, none would pass.

You can make at least 500hp on the stock fuel system and more than that w/ a boost a pump or larger pumps. I think the stock fuel system is more than adequate...although I'm not sure about the fuel filter situation. I never had a problem on my 99 and I only changed the filter once in 25k miles. It ran 12.0's to 12.4's on average. However, I am changing my fuel filter more frequently, since it's fairly inexpensive to replace...just in case.

Here is an alternative Ford filter that I just installed:

It is listed for a 1998 Navigator(5.4). It has the same size end-tubes/connection and overall length but is way bigger in diameter/circumference. I removed the OEM clamp and used two, long hose clamps(in tandem, end-to-end) to attach it to the steel, 1/2"(?) line running just under the OEM clamp. I used a 2" piece of 5/8", reinforced, hose to fit around the steel line to protect the line and the filter body.
