You can make at least 500hp on the stock fuel system and more than that w/ a boost a pump or larger pumps. I think the stock fuel system is more than adequate...although I'm not sure about the fuel filter situation. I never had a problem on my 99 and I only changed the filter once in 25k miles. It ran 12.0's to 12.4's on average. However, I am changing my fuel filter more frequently, since it's fairly inexpensive to replace...just in case.

It is listed for a 1998 Navigator(5.4). It has the same size end-tubes/connection and overall length but is way bigger in diameter/circumference. I removed the OEM clamp and used two, long hose clamps(in tandem, end-to-end) to attach it to the steel, 1/2"(?) line running just under the OEM clamp. I used a 2" piece of 5/8", reinforced, hose to fit around the steel line to protect the line and the filter body.
