Just a follow up to this post

I wired the power to my reverse lights, and put the settings in the Kenwood to Auto, and the camera now comes on automaticly when I put the car in reverse.

The reverse camera I purchased was on eBay, by seller
allstarsalez for $50 w/ shipping

Need to do a follow up post to this camera I got on eBay

Right now this color camara is showing up in black and white, and I have contacted the seller, and he says
"it is recommended to use camera with the monitor which has the standard video input impedance level of 75 Ohms, If in any case your monitor is not set to high impedance mode, please switch the monitor standard impedance position. If the monitor has not the impedance adjust switch, please ask technician or installer for a camera suitable for your monitor."

which the Kenwood has, so I am not sure if there is in any settings on the HU, that can correct this...

So I thought I would post this, so no one purchases this color camera, and it shows up in b&w

I will post back with update

Hey, Snook....you mentioned that the camera display turns on automatically on the Kenwood deck when it is in reverse. Does it then switch back to your previous sceen once the vehicle is put back in drive?
Thanks!

Did you ever fix the black & white thing? Was it through the HU?

For those of you that have installed this head unit. Will it work with the factory audio controls on the steering wheel? If not, what needs to be done to make it work?

Thanks for the help,

Evan

That it is a sweet install. Will that head unit fit in my '01 screw?

I'm going to purchase this unit, and would like the Sirius tuner, music keg, and the nagigation system. My question is where should I bury this equipment? If I put the Navigation in the glove box (will it fit?) will it play the DVD if it's sitting upright? I will need access to this.

Also for those that have the Sirius tuner. How did you run/mount the antenna?

Thanks,
mikebaby

This HU will work with the steering wheel controls, but you have to purchase a IR repeater that connects to the controls. It is about $100.
The controller is not Kenwood, but some “X 212” or something. If I dig out the receipt I will give the make/model of the controller.

I would mount the GPS DVD under the passenger front seat. The antenna for the GPS can be mounted under the dash - kind of about the head unit. Unlike Sirius, the GPS antenna can be hidden out of site.

The ierius antenna mount is on the roof right in front of the third break light. The light is unscrewed and the wire is sent through and along the top ridge of the interior on the driver’s side. It then comes down the pillar (along the windshield) under the dash and to the unit.

Search for XM or Sirius "antenna wiring" for a better description

I added a 6” Bazooka Tube for a great rounding of the low end.

i second that question..... anybody have the answer for this???

Also, when installing a double din radio such as this.... is there an install kit needed? Any alterations to mount a double-din deck or do they just pop right in, so to speak??

I have no problem installing radios and such, just wanna know if these double-din radios fit right in without anything else needed!

Depending on the year/model, there is a kit that makes it much easier. I would suggest getting it from Crutchfield.

I have a picture of the stock radio removed here:

Good luck!
