I was at circuit city last week. The guy said they stopped selling Kenwood, and he told me to go check out Best Buy! LOL I was already at bestbuy earlier that day, they didn't have the double din units.

Larain
Not familiar with them.... although i did find that website myself last week as well! I actually have many websites i found with the nav around 800 and i found a few for the headunit at 995.00 Personally, I've decided to buy from a local shop. The deal is pretty good(actually better than some deals i've seen people pay online), and i don't want any problems with my warranty through kenwood. Let's just say they don't like online purchases/self installs too much. Besides, if i have a problem, i can just take it to the shop and have it fixed/replaced.

Q1: don't know personally, but i've heard it's possible and will work fine.

Q2: I've heard nothing but good news. I was actually looking at eclipse and alpine as well for navigation. I was told kenwood is the best way to go. Alpine, i just hear is crap for nav.(may have been first, but not best) Eclipse i heard is ok, but problem is, the avn2454(don't quote me on the model #) is an all in one.. cd/dvd/nav and it takes away from the nav because the whole headunit supports all that stuff. Now for the kenwood...you get a seperate unit for the navigation. So it's entirely dedicated to navigation and nothing else. Then your headunit worries about playing the cd/dvd's. Also, kenwood nav is best for multiple roads/alot of turns. It has a 2sec max delay for re-routes, detour, etc.... if you make a wrong turn!!

If I buy the 7015, what kind of wiring harness do I need? I am assuming that the wiring harness adapter for the f150 does not fit the 7015. Does anyone know where I could find that out? Does one exist or am I going to have to connect wire to wire?

Thanks

Just buy the normal aftermarket harness, that's what you need. The other needed wires/harness comes with the headunit!

I got the proper kit from Crutchfield for 14.99 and installed it myself. I was nervous about breaking the dash but it was actually pretty easy. I drilled a hole in the place and mounted the IR Repeater in it so it looks great now. I'll try and get a new pic posted.

I wonder if there's any ODBII readers that have a RCA Video out? Would be pretty sweet to interface that with this unit. I could do it with a PC but rather not.

I just ordered the Kenwood DDX-7015, Kenwood Music Keg, and the PAC SWI-X remote so that I can continue to use the steering wheel controls. Thanks to all of the posts here, I knew exactly what I needed to order and what I will need to do to install it all.
I've also ordered a backup camera off of eBay for about $50. Can't wait until it all arrives and I can get it all installed.

Thanks for all the help.

speedwolf,

Enjoy it. I know you will. Just stay off the curbs
I'm hoping to add a camera in a few weeks, maybe 2. One up front and one in the back. I've not decided yet.

Lightbulb DDX7015 install

Does the factory opening have to be modified for the install or is it a "true" double din? Thanks in advance Griff

Drop's in very nicely. There's a huge bucket of space in there too. Put the Sirius rec. behind the HU. Still plenty of room. I wonder if anyone has mounted a DIN-E unit where the ashtray is. Considering mounting the Pro-2096 when it comes out. Supposed to be DIN-E Compatible, finally.

I love the Sirius! I'll also note something I read somewhere but not done myself, is that you can also burn mp3's to a DVD-R/+R even though the manual states mp3 is supported on CDR-R's. That's a boat load of tunes

Cool

Makes sense if the unit will read + and - media it should work. I appreciate all the info. This is a great site, This is my 3rd F150 since 97(97,01,04 and definitely the best) and I have had to figure out most things on my own, man its nice to access to this kind of info, and the install pics are great. How did I ever make it without it!

Now if I could just get this dang vibe fixed. I might end up going with the DSB and get another one. This site is a great resource. Only bad thing about it, it's costing me $ with all the great mod. idea's I keep getting.
