Dash Cluster

Sorry guys i didnt really know were to put this question....

i have a 99 XL and would like to put a XLT oem gauge cluster in it so i can have the tach.....

my question is, is this somehting that is a simple put it in and it recognizes the tach, or is there further things that need to be installed.

I know in my tbird i can change the 120 speedo to a 150mph just be changing it and the computer recognizes it and shows the right speed....

im a new owner so this maybe a stupid question

From what I have read, some '99's have a wire running that is ready for a tach. If you look under the hood behind the battery, there is a harness there with a whole bunch of wires. to add a tach, you need to hook up to the 48 slot. And if there is a white/red wire running out of that slot, it may run to your harness behind the guages. If your lucky it will be plug and play.

I am just going to add a small tach, and I found a site that has a tach holder, that goes right on to the steering column without drilling. I don't want one of those 5" ones, just need to see what is going on.
