Post PIAA Group Buy (posting here to hopefully peak some interest)

I posted this under group purchases but didn't get much of a response, so I thought I'd try here, just to see...
As many of you know i've been working on putting together a PIAA group purchase to hopefully lower the price a bit so everyone can get what they want for below retail. These prices may seem a bit high, but compare them to other retailers and they are quite significantly different. I advise you to shop around, and if you find a better price let me know and I'll try to work a deal through them... I shopped around to several lighting stores as well as wholesalers and these are about what I can do for pricing on such a large order. Keep in mind this is indeed a group purchase so I will not be profiting from the sale. On top of this you will have to pay shipping, which will be anywhere from about $3 for a set of bulb's to about $9 for the 80 Racing Series.

LIghts that will fit in stock locations
These lights are guaranteed to fit in the stock fog light location, many other models will but may require some trimming.
If you want to replace your stock lights with PIAA's, here's the list of PIAA's that will fit in stock locations.
4wd F-150
With bracket number 30260
959, 912, 910 in bumper opening on each side of license plate; 40 rectangular, 940, 960, 980 fit if not front plate required.
1000,1200, base down in bumper opening on each side of license plate; 1500 fits if not front plate required.
2wd f-150
With bracket number 30270
959, 910, and 910 fiti n airdam

Bulbs

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/9000seriesbulbs.html"" TARGET=_blank>9007 superwhites headlamp replacements (95-current Explorers, 93-current Rangers, 97-current F-150's)</A> - $60
<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/h3bulbs.html"" TARGET=_blank>55w=85w superwhite H3 replacements </A> - $25 for the pair if you're ordering the H3's to replace your fog light bulbs because that's what your manual says, please look at the bulb itself before ordering... it's been discovered that many truly are not H3's.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/9000seriesbulbs.html"" TARGET=_blank>9005 bulbs </A>- $57.75
<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/9000seriesbulbs.html"" TARGET=_blank>9006 bulbs </A>- $57.75

on the bulbs, if you purchase 2 or more sets they will be $2 off each set. Not much of a discount but hopefully some

Lamp kits

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=80pro.html"" TARGET=_blank>80 Pro XT's (either fog, driving, or clear) </A>- $220

The 80 XT's are the big dawgs, I've got 4 sets of them myself. They are also fairly expensive, but there the brightest they make aside from H.I.D. (the driving version is 385,000 candlepower, wowee!). They are approximately 7" wide. They are a little less then 3" deep, come with white covers (see pics of my Explorer to see what I mean). A few of the people on the board that have these are myself, Ray Lobato, and Rick.

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=80r.html"" TARGET=_blank>80 Racing </A> - $330 for the whole kit (two lamps, wiring harness).

The 80 Racing Series are there biggest light, these bad boys are nearly 9 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and 5 1/2" deep. They are dual-mode so they have a low-beam and a hi-beam. These don't come as a kit, you have to get two lamps and one wiring harness (as gofast pointed out earlier). For wiring harness you can either get the 22050 which will work fine or the 22150 which is designed for a higher wattage, so you could hypothetically upgrade the bulbs later if you wanted to (though I don't know why). These lamps also come with the covers. They come in driving only. I've got these on my Explorer, there big . The $330 includes everything the kit would include (two lamps w/covers and one wiring harness)

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=520.html"" TARGET=_blank>520's black</A> - $180.

The 520 series, as well as the 80 XT's are one of the more popular lights. They are a standard 6 3/8" wide, 6 1/8" tall, and 2 3/8" deep. They come with the grill-style cover. These come in fog or driving, and soon to be in MSR (see piaa.com for more info). You can get them in either chrome or black (chrome is more expensive of course). These are 85 watts and aren't as powerful as the 80 XT's, but they are cheaper. Some of the people on the board that have these are myself, Ray Lobato, Gerald Jarrett, and numerous others.

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=1500.html"" TARGET=_blank>1500's </A>- $170.

The 1500 series will fit many Explorers and F-150's in their stock locations. They are a thin rectangular light and come in fog or driving. They are 2 1/4" tall and 6" wide, and 2 5/8" deep. I have these mounted in my back bumper and they make a great spread. These one's do not include light covers because if you mount them in the stock location you won't be able to use the PIAA covers. The covers are quite inexpensive though if purchased seperately.

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=1400.html"" TARGET=_blank>1400's black </A>- $155.

The 1400's are small and compact and give a great spread of light. There what Rick's using as his reverse lights. The mount about anywhere and look slick! They come in fog or driving, and hte driving version comes in black or platinum. They are 2 1/8" tall, 3 1/4" wide, and 3" deep.

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=959.html"" TARGET=_blank>959's </A>- $220.

The 959's are the same dimensions as the 910's, but come in a fog light version. The 959's are SAE approved, which doesn't make them street legal, but SAE approved .

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=910.html"" TARGET=_blank>910's </A>- $230.

The 910 series will fit many of the Explorers with the round fog lights as well as those with rectangular lights with some slight cutting, you have to specify whether you will be mounting these hanging down or standing up as they are designed slightly differently for ventilation purposes. They are 4" tall, 4 3/4" wide, and 5" deep. They come in ion crystal driving and clear driving. I had them in my 98 F-150 and I was quite impressed, plus you can mount em about anywhere!

If you want a light that is a dual-mode light (fog and driving in the same lamp) you can choose from the 940's, 960's, 980's and the 90 XT's. THe 90 XT's are the big dawgs, these are the best light (aside from H.I.D.) that PIAA offers (also the most expensive). The 980's will also fit in the stock Explorer location, and the 940's and 960's may with some minor trimming.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=940.html"" TARGET=_blank> 940's </A>- $185

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=960.html"" TARGET=_blank>960's </A>- $235

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=980.html"" TARGET=_blank>980's </A>- $290

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=40rnd.html"" TARGET=_blank>40 round</A> - $120/set.

These are not as expensive as the 520's, but not as good either. They are about the same size, but a bit narrower, and clear instead of amber. They are the basic light, no huge frills, but still better then many of it's competitors.

<A HREF="http://"http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=40rec.html"" TARGET=_blank>40 rectangular</A> - $100/set.

They run 55 watts which can be upgraded to the 85 watt bulbs with no problem.

If you are interested, please email Matt Adams at matt@explorerforum.com, or by phone at 303-437-1275. Once i know what lights you want I can get you a shipping price figured up and get the process started!

Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing several of lights, we can probably work out a discount.

How do group purchases work? Do we pay you or the supplier? Are all the units drop shipped to you and then you send them, or are they shipped out individually? What about taxes and shipping charges? Thanks

Clancy, the way it works is that first off you pay me (or if your uncomfortable with that, you can also write a check out to 4-wheel parts wholesalers, that's who I'm probably going through). No taxes, I'm having to pay sales tax here in Colorado because I'm not tax exempt, but that's included in the cost... shipping will vary based on what you get (obviously an 8 ounce set of bulbs will be much less then 20 pounds worth of 80 Rally series lights), you can e-mail me for more information on that if you'd like. At the lowest (for one set of bulbs) shipping will be $3. At the highest (80 Rally series lights) it will be $12. If you purchase more then one set I'll have to figure up a shipping cost.
Thanks for your interest!

Cool

What about the replacement air dams? The ones that will fit 6" rounds in it, with two more in the middle. Any price on that?

Cool

If you can get them, count me in too. But I've had the PIAA airdam on order for two months now from Six Robbles in Anchorage. The salesman said they're on B.O. The part number is #30530.

excellent question on the air dam's. Part number 30530, fits the 99-00 Expeditions/F-150's (possibly 2001, I'm not sure...). Assuming PIAA has them in stock (Which I am currently researching) the price would be about 170. The shipping would be a bit extra since these are so oversized, I would expect shipping to be around $15.
Also, if you wanted the 510 series lights that mounts in the PIAA airdam, they would be $165. The 520's that also fit are already priced above.

Cool

Mattbert,

I definitely want one. But I don't know about shipping costs to AK, it's usually very high. Shoot me an email at jupiterak@gci.net
If shipping is reasonable. Then I'll try to get my money back from the local truck shop on Monday. Thanks.

Question

Mattbert,

When are you planning on doing the group buy? I'm definately interested, but I have a slight problem....you see, the airdam and 520's are on my Christmas list! I won't know if I need to join the group buy until January sometime (my girlfriend is not budging on giving hints!).

spiff - here's what our plan is. Tomorrow or the day after I am going to place the first order... that's so the people that sent payment weeks ago won't have to wait a long time for their lights. After that I am going to wait, probably around a month (mid-january) depending on how many orders I get between now and then. I have to get at least 10 orders in order to get the group discount, so we'll see when I get 10...
