As a Ham radio operator I have this Kenwood VHF transceiver installed in the truck. (It is hardwired in.) Also, installed a through the window mount antenna which is grounded from the inside of the cab to the truck frame so didn't need to use a mag mount in order to get the ground plane. This allows me to get in and out of my low garage door without hassling with removal of the antenna.

BTW, prior to the install of the tonneau cover, I did use a mag mount antenna sitting on the front metal edge of the truck bed right below the window and it worked satisfactorily.
