Question Cab steps/nerf bars ????

Ive been looking at getting a pair of steps for my Screw. I like the look of the westin bars but I dont like that they dont extend back to the frame, they just end after they turn back under the body. What do they actually mount to? Does anyone know if someone makes some that go all the way back to the frame? Also you guys that do have bars installed, do they project out far enough to protect the body from door dings in the parking lot???? I hate those, it seems like no matter how hard you try to park safe some one parks right next to you and nails your door!
Thanks for the help.

I looked for a year and never found mass produced steps that go to the frame. I will probably have to build my own if i want steps that way. I did see a set of GoRhinos that went to the frame, but they also bolted to the body. Not much flex left between cab and frame.

I have taken mine off, but I had Ford factory nerf bars. They did in fact stick out far enough to keep you from getting door dings.

I've seen some frame mounted bars on carparts.com I don't remember which ones they were, but they are out there. As far as the Westins go they mount to the body. If you look under the truck at the inside of the body where you said the bars go up at you will see some holes and slots there. Thats where they mount.

Thanks for the input. I think I will look into the GoRhinos and see what they have to offer.

Where can you purchase Genuie Steel Products from? I would like frame mounted bars also. That is why I have been holding off on them. Now I know what company makes them. Thanks

I noticed some Nerf bars from Eurobar that say in the product information that they bolt directly to the frame; and they offer stainless ones at what seem to be a semi-reasonable price. It may just be a misprint on the web site though, I am still unsure.

Here is where I saw them:

on the right side there is a scrolling navigation thing - highlight "Boards & Steps" and click "Go".
