? Is he saying they wont powder coat them? You can also try ceramic, but its more expensive. Heres what my local guy said.

We can coat these in powder coat for $60 for the pair. Depending on how hot
these tips get, you may opt to coat them in black ceramic, $100 for the pair.
Ceramic will handle the heat much better than powder, but not as impact/abrasion
resistant as powder coat.

Thanks,
Larry

Work in progress. I have only had the vehicle for 2 days!

So far..

HD heads and tails. (Third break light on order).
Chrome front turn signals.
Dark FX4 Decals (need to be installed).

Wow; nice trucks everyone! I've been tossing around the idea of blacking mine out, but it's a bit older, so I'm not sure how feasible that idea is; I was thinking of doing a black & red color scheme (mostly black with bits of red) so as to match my cheapo seat cover I bought at Shuck's a while back. I actually like everything about the seat cover, except for the fact that it doesn't fit very well, which made me start thinking of eventually re-upholstering the seat itself in the same style as the cover; but I digress. Any tips, advice, etc. on where to find blackout-style accessories (or how to make some myself) for a 1990 F150 XLT Lariat 4x4? The truck is in my sig if you're curious what it looks like now. My original plan was to simply paint it black, maybe re-tint the windows (the current tint job is rather old, and seems to be flaking off a tiny bit at a time), get some nice black rims, and maybe some black emblems. I'm not sure if black bumpers and mirrors are a possibility with this generation of truck, but if so, I was thinking of swapping those out also. Thanks for any advice given!

OK, it's working now, but it's smaller than the image I uploaded; I guess I have to follow the max dimensions exactly (the height was within limits but the width was exceeded). At least it's visible, though. Thanks!

Should I remove the FX4 decal?

If I remove the FX4 decal, what are some color and graphic options for my truck?

Hey mayo7 I see your front emblem is blacked out! Where did you get the decals/overlays to do that? I gotta do something about these blue ones on my black truck.

Ok, I made a better sig to give a better idea of what my truck looks like; I'll link it to the larger version of the image later so everyone can see it in better detail. I just wish I knew how to insert a larger image into my signature, but I assume it's a user status thing. At any rate, I haven't seen very many F-150s of my generation blacked out (at least, not to the point that many of the trucks in this thread are). Usually, it's black paint, and then the wheels, bumpers, etc. are chrome. While I like the look, I also like to stand out and be different sometimes, and I think a blacked-out look would look pretty nice on this generation of truck. However, as I stated above, I haven't seen many at all, which leads me to wonder if any kits/accessories are available for my generation, or would I have to customize everything myself? It seems that at least a few people have taken the middle path, dabbling in both areas, so I suppose that the latter isn't that difficult (nor expensive), and can perhaps be a bit creative, even. Either way, it sounds like fun. Maybe I'll start sketching out my ideas in order to obtain a better visual representation. That also sounds like fun.

EDIT: Ok, I've linked the signature image to the larger version. Enjoy!
