I emailed SPAL to see if they can recommend a good setup and they referred me to some other guys. So I emailed them and this is what I got in response:

At this time we don’t have a fan kit for that vehicle, we do have fans and some universal mounting brackets that would probably work. We also have the relay and programmable controller available as well and we could throw it all together for about $375 plus shipping, it would also be easier to program compared to what the other guys are doing and a far nicer setup. Also the fans the other guys are selling are Chinese junk and don’t pull anywhere near the cfm they claim, we flow tested the flexalite 5500 cfm fan kit and once it was put on a radiator with an a/c condenser and a charge air cooler the cfm was 0, no air at all. There motors don’t pull any amps and without amp draw you don’t have cfm, my 2 16” fans will pull about 44amps total and you will need the higher amp alternator to run them. These companies rely on marketing to sell there fans, they are not an OEM manufacturer like SPAL is. Let me know what you want to do on this, we should be able to help you out, thanks

I have used the SPAL controller before on past vehicles and they are very nice. They are more expensive but you are not relying on that thermocouple jammed in your radiator fins. They hook up to the vehicle electrical system and are very easy to program. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I also just received info that if the controller goes out the fan will automatically turn on to full power, so dont have to worry about overheating or installing a manuel override switch.

If the controller malfunctions it goes straight to high speed for both fans, it has a failsafe mode.

Here is whats all included in this kit that I'm ordering from these guys for $375 plus shipping. It's all SPAL products, I will keep you all posted on how everything goes with install and what not, but so far the customer survice seems good and very quick.

2 of these 16in fans: http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...&item=30102120

Controler: http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...tem=FAN-PWM-V3

temerature sensor: http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...tem=FAN-PWM-TS

Relay Harness: http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...etail&item=FRH

The guy says the kit will include everything needed.

That seems like a pretty damn good deal I may have to order that stuff up too! Who are you ordering them from? Hell, if you wanted to cheapen it up a little you could easily just get a temp controlled switch, a Bosch 75A relay (~$20), and the two 16"spall fans.

You might want to fire off an e-mail back to that SPAL guy. He said they pull 44 amps? Well then why does their controller say in fine print on the web site PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: The FAN-PWM-V3 is not intended for use with fans that draw more current than 30amps continuously. Sounds like an epic fail situation, no?

Each fan draws about 22A, but the controller is meant to trigger a relay controlling the second fan, so the controller will only be seeing about 22.xxA

From the site:

"The system can operate dual fan setups with the ability to trigger an external fan relay to power your second fan. An input for your air conditioning system allows fans to run at 100% when the A/C is activated. Built in timing features keep fans off during modern vehicle defrost cycles. On board status indicator lights report error codes and let you know the FAN-PWM-V3 is active and ready."

Just follow the link below, I have been emailing back and forth with Brian will order this setup from him tomorrow morning. Just wanted to see what others thought first. But the fact that this kit would cost less then Troyer and Flex a lite, and I hear its of better quality, I guess its a win win.

Here is their links to the different parts, if you wanted to order seperately

Fan: http://www.universalpartsinc.com/det...?PART=30102120

Everything else: http://www.universalpartsinc.com/det...p?PART=PWM-KIT

Then I think he said he would throw in some brakets for mounting.

I have had good experience with the Troyer kit. After about 5 years of abuse the first controller failed. I purchased a replacement from Durale for about $35.00 The second one puked last year which would be two years later. My fans have seen water, mud, snow and all kinds of abuse. A year before the second controller died the copper rods finally wore a hole through the rad. The other fan had been mounded to the rad using a kit that I pieced together using the nylon angle brackets from Durale and nuts and bolts. No copper rods. The other fan was quickly mounted using this method. So far no problems. I never encountered a relay that melted. I do have redundant activation switches for each fan that uses a separate fused relay. The fuse holders are constantly melting. I am considering upgrading to mega fuses. I also fave a master cut off switch for water crossings. Activation lights indicate the status of the fans so I know if they were turned off or on. I also carry wires with male spade connectors to short the 30 and 87 terminals of the relays if ever it is needed.

.

I'm thinkin I'm gunna ask the guy about the difference between the fan I previously posted and this fan. This fan is the same price as the other but has a higher CFM rating and I like the look of the curved blade.

Do yo realize how many things you mentioned you had done and have to carry in order to keep these fans running. For you and I is like now big deal cause we are mechanically inclined, but what about the regular John doe who know nothing about how to hot wiring the fans in the event the controller fails as it happened to me at a remote area the first week it was installed. For the price of the fan, the controllers should run flawlessly.

Very cool, let me know what you do. I might buy the same kit. I read that the curved fins make less noise on the Spal site.
