Im not to sure where you live, but if you talk to your dealership they will be able to point you in the right direction of a local glass shop that will give you the best price. The other option is to let your fingers do a little work and look through the yellow pages and start calling up glass shops and getting quotes on CASH price for replacement windshileds.
Hope this helps,

the kanuck is right
I thumbed through the local yellow pages here in Houston and prices ranged from 140-220 but on the fifth shop the guy said 110 installed for a new windshield they showed me the D.O.T. certification numbers and also transferred my inspection and registration stickers (in texas they are on the windshield) to the new glass with no new charges.

My insurance doesn't cover glass for whatever reason, so I was on my own when my windshield got cracked in Texas. I've got a $500 deductible, but the replacement glass was $341 installed for a Carlite. It would have been like $470ish for a Ford windshield, which I don't get since the Carlite is the same thing. Still has the F150 logo across the top of it, even has the little Ford logo in the bottom center above the Carlite logo.

This is a little off topic, but in FL there's a special clause which waives your comprehensive deductible for broken glass.. kinda nice. On the other hand, if you're registered in MI, it's a special deductible of $200 for auto glass, regardless of what your normal deductible is, be it $50 or $500. Interesting info I learned when the back window of my Impala mysteriously decided to become more than one piece. That was a $750 piece of glass because of the integral radio antenna and the OnStar fittings. I definately got my premium's worth on that one.

I was driving back from my buddies wedding the other day and a tractor trailer kicked up a huge rock and spiderwebbed my windsheild. I called my insurance company and they told me it was a $500 deductible to replace it. Then i called glass doctor and they replaced it for $199.00. Definitely shop around before you go through your insurance.

Now that auto insurance rates can fluctuate when you make a claim, it is usually in your best interest to buy it dirrectly with out involving your insurance.
In 1996, I had a 1994 Explorer and the windshield cracked. Called a few winshield places and they were all in the $1200-$1500 price. I called a few again and told them I was not involving my insurance and got quotes and had the windshield installed for $225.
This is one of many reasons we all pay too much for auto insurance.
Auto Glass----what a scam!
